About me and my therapy practice
Finding the right therapist can be daunting. You may be wondering what the sessions will be like and whether you will feel comfortable opening up and talking about your concerns. Perhaps you are feeling anxious or depressed, you may have lost someone close to you or suffering from stress at work. Relationship issues or past trauma could be preventing you from living the life you want to lead. There are countless reasons you could be seeking therapy at this time and my aim is to offer a supportive space where we can explore whatever is troubling you. I value and welcome diversity and difference in all its forms, including gender, sexuality, race and culture. I understand the importance of identity and how it shapes who we are.
Practice description
As a person-centred therapist I believe that individuals can find their own answers and fulfil their potential given the right environment . My role is to bring my knowledge and skills to help facilitate the change you are looking for. Our work together will be collaborative, we will go at your pace and my aim is to create a trusting relationship where you feel able to express your difficulties. A new perspective in a supportive environment can be empowering and greater self-awareness can enable you to make the right choices for you. The therapeutic relationship is central to successful therapy and I will do my best to relate to you in a trusting and genuine way. Experience has shown me that therapy can be hugely beneficial, healing and transformative.
I have worked in a variety of settings, including charities, counselling agencies and private practice. My work with an Employee Assistance Programme covered a wide range of themes including anxiety, depression and relationship issues. I have worked extensively with individuals suffering from bereavement and loss as well as trauma and addiction. I have worked in private practice for five years.
I work face to face from 1 St Colme Street, EH3 6AA, situated in the heart of Edinburgh City Centre. There is wheelchair access into the reception area. Wheelchair access into the lift will depend on the size of the wheelchair. Please contact me for further information.
My first session
Sessions last for one hour and cost £60. I offer the first session for a reduced fee of £30 as I understand it can take a few attempts to find the right therapist. We can use this time to discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and you can ask me any questions you may have. At the end of this session you may want to arrange regular appointments, or you may want to go home and reflect or not proceed. There will be no pressure regarding this. I also offer a small number of concessionary places. I look forward to meeting you if you choose to contact me.
