I have experience of working with uniformed services and welcome clients from this sector.

Availability

I like to be available for sessions between 8am and 7pm on a weekday and on a Saturday  between 9am and 1pm.   I try to be flexible to meet your needs and can accommodate changes in session times due to shift working and childcare so you do not need to book the same time and day each week with me.

About me and my therapy practice

I work mostly online to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative space for adults experiencing anxiety, phobias, OCD, health anxiety, depression, and trauma. I understand that seeking therapy can feel daunting, especially if you鈥檝e been managing difficulties on your own or feel stuck in cycles of fear, worry, or low mood. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported while working towards meaningful and lasting change.

My approach is primarily person-centred, which means I place great importance on empathy, respect, and collaboration. I work at your pace, helping you explore your experiences and make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Alongside this, I can integrate CBT techniques where helpful, offering practical tools to manage intrusive thoughts, phobias, anxiety, or low mood. This combination allows therapy to be both supportive and outcome-focused.

I am experienced in working with clients with a wide range of difficulties, including phobias (specific fears and avoidance), OCD, health anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma. I tailor therapy to the individual, using structured interventions, visual exercises, exposure work, and creative approaches to help you access emotions, develop insight, and make safe and meaningful changes.

I also offer walking therapy, local to me,  which can feel more relaxed and natural if you prefer side-by-side conversation or find that being outdoors helps reduce anxiety and supports emotional regulation.

Every client is unique, and I collaborate with you to create a personalised plan that works for your pace, goals, and circumstances. My aim is to provide a compassionate, trauma-informed space where you can feel supported, understood, and empowered to make positive change.

Practice description

When you come to therapy with me, you鈥檒l find a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can be heard, understood, and work at your own pace. I work with adults helping you explore what鈥檚 been difficult while also developing practical ways to manage it. I have a particular interest in supporting people who work or live under pressure, helping them cope with stress, high demands, and the emotional impact of challenging environments.  I enjoy working with those who help others and have extensive experience of working with front line emergency workers in the UK.  I do not have any personal military experience but welcome military veterans.

I offer both compassionate listening and practical tools to understand thoughts, behaviours, and emotions. I like to work creatively, using art, visual exercises, or walking therapy outdoors, which can help sessions feel relaxed, reflective, and engaging. I also work online, making therapy accessible wherever you feel most comfortable.

Often, clients come not knowing exactly what they need鈥攋ust that something doesn鈥檛 feel right. Together, we can explore what鈥檚 happening, develop coping strategies, and experiment with different approaches until we find what works. I bring a life of experience to my practice, having worked in media, the arts, and education, and I draw on these perspectives to enrich therapy and offer different ways of understanding your experiences.

I keep up-to-date with research, professional reading, and new thinking in counselling and therapy, which informs my practice and helps me bring fresh, evidence-informed approaches to our work.

I offer flexible session times to fit around life and work. While we agree clear terms for working together, there鈥檚 no obligation beyond each session, and payment is requested on the same day.

My goal is to provide a collaborative, understanding, and empowering space where you feel supported, safe, and able to take steps towards meaningful change.

My first session

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy. It鈥檚 a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space, and there鈥檚 no pressure to know all the answers or have everything figured out. Often clients come simply feeling that 鈥渟omething isn鈥檛 right,鈥 and that鈥檚 enough to start working together.

In this session, we鈥檒l talk about what鈥檚 been challenging for you, how it affects your life, and what you hope to get from therapy. I鈥檒l explain how I work, including my person-centred approach, use of CBT techniques, creative tools, or walking therapy if you鈥檇 like, so you can see what might feel helpful for you.

We鈥檒l also discuss practical details, such as session length, frequency, and boundaries, as well as the terms of working together. While we agree clear guidelines, there鈥檚 no commitment beyond each session, and payment is requested on the day.

The first session is about listening, understanding, and starting to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. We may explore your current feelings, look at what鈥檚 affecting you, and identify small first steps to begin making sense of your experiences. My aim is to make this session feel supportive, clear, and empowering, so you leave feeling heard and understood, with a sense of what working together might look like.

During this session I also ask that you complete a questionnaire for me if we agree to work together.  I also use questionnaires sometimes through work if clients are happy to do so.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer professional supervision for counsellors and therapists at all and particularly enjoy working with newly qualified practitioners, helping them build confidence, develop insight, and understand their own practice as they grow into skilled, reflective therapists.  My approach is supportive, reflective, and collaborative, providing a safe space to explore client work, ethical dilemmas, and professional development.

I also encourage creative approaches in supervision, such as reflective exercises, discussion, and exploratory tools, depending on what suits you and your learning style.

Supervision are online with flexible scheduling to fit around your work. My goal is to provide guidance, challenge, and support in equal measure鈥攈elping you develop your skills, strengthen your professional identity, and provide safe, effective, and ethical therapy to your clients.  Supervision is not always about discussing client work but can be about broader issues coming into the space or impacting you.  We can also discuss accreditation.

My first session

Your first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and agree how we will work together. We will discuss your qualifications, experience, and professional background, including your professional body membership and insurance.

We will also cover practical and professional aspects, such as how you manage client records and data, confidentiality, and any ethical considerations relevant to your practice. This session is a chance to clarify expectations, establish boundaries, and agree on the structure and focus of future supervision.
