About me and my therapy practice
I know making the first steps looking for a counsellor can seem daunting. Choosing to ask for and accept support takes a huge amount of courage. Always remember:
鈥測ou are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think鈥- A.A Milne.
I have experience of helping people with a range of mental health conditions. My areas of special interest are Neurodiversity. Chronic illnesses such as Long Covid, CFS/ ME and Fibromyalgia. Also helping people with Migraines and Chronic Headaches.
My therapeutic approach
I am here to help you on your therapeutic journey. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is central to therapy and I hope this profile will help you decide if you feel we can work together. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please get in touch.
As a person-centred therapist, I believe therapy needs to be tailored to each individual to suit your needs. In therapy I will work alongside you to find a better understanding of how and why you have come to feel the way you do and helping you to develop strategies to better manage unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
I also work as a relational therapist and I believe the relationships we experience in life with ourselves and others are important to our well-being. I will help you to explore your relationships and explore their effects on your well-being. We will work collaboratively as I believe it is for you to decide what issues you want to explore to find a way forward and to empower you to make positive changes in your life. I am happy to work both long-term and short-term. I can adjust the duration of individual sessions and overall length of therapy to suit clients needs.
I work online and by telephone. My service is available to people from across the UK. A lot of my clients like the accessibility of remote counselling. As it means they can talk to me from a safe space in their home without the worry of travel requirements.
Practice description
People come to counselling with a wide range of issues. Feeling burnout? Feeling frustrated with fatigue and managing energy levels? Feeling not good enough? Worried about becoming a burden to friends and family or them seeing you that way? Feeling overwhelmed by a world that doesn鈥檛 suit the neurodivergent brain?
Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed & unable to see a way through; alone with no one to share your difficulties; stressed and 'frazzled' at work; trapped or bored in your current circumstances? Struggling after a bereavement or the end of a relationship? Feeling concerned about worrying or being a burden to loved ones? You may wish to appear stronger than you feel to support them. You may be dealing with big life changes and have a lot of uncertainty on adjusting to the changes and understanding the loss you may feel around the change.
