About me and my therapy practice

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults and couples in a calm rural setting, as well as online.

My work focuses on helping people develop a sense of inner strength and self-worth that does not depend on external validation or changing circumstances, but grows from deeper self-understanding, flexibility, and the ability to see more clearly inside their own lives.

I work pluralistically, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what is most helpful for you. Some people need space to explore and make sense of their past; others benefit from clear, practical tools to help shift unhelpful thoughts, behaviours, or patterns. Often, therapy involves both.

My approach integrates relational and developmental therapy, CBT, compassion-focused work, attachment- and trauma-informed perspectives, and psychoeducation. This allows us to work both deeply and practically 鈥 understanding where patterns come from and learning how to change them in the present.

I work particularly well with thoughtful, reflective adults who may be sensitive, highly attuned to others, or outwardly capable but inwardly exhausted. Many have been raised in emotionally immature or critical family systems where emotional awareness was limited, and now struggle with self-worth, boundaries, people-pleasing, anxiety rooted in earlier experiences, or a sense of feeling 鈥渄ifferent鈥 or out of place. I also support people navigating life transitions, loss, or existential questions.

In my work with couples, I offer a calm, balanced space where both partners can feel heard. Many couples come feeling stuck in repeating cycles of misunderstanding, conflict, or emotional distance. My role is to help create a relational firebreak 鈥 a space where underlying patterns can be understood and new perspectives can emerge. I work collaboratively, as a facilitator, supporting new perspectives.

Alongside my clinical work, I also offer supervision for qualified therapists (see separate listing).

Practice description

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, but it is also a meaningful step towards not continuing in ways that no longer feel right. Rather than an indulgence, therapy can be a thoughtful investment in your wellbeing 鈥 whether you are coming as an individual or as a couple.

I offer a calm, supportive space in which we can explore what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to change or understand more deeply. We might work with past experiences, look at how earlier patterns continue to shape the present, or focus more on the here and now 鈥 finding ways to step out of habitual ways of thinking, feeling, or relating.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and practical tools, and work flexibly and collaboratively, always tailoring the work to you. This might involve developing insight, learning new ways of responding to yourself or others, or strengthening awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses that are often automatic or unnoticed.

In couples work, we often look at the patterns and cycles that can develop over time, particularly under stress. A neutral space can help slow things down, make sense of what is happening between you, and allow different perspectives to emerge.

Throughout the work, my role is to support understanding, reflection, and change in a way that feels grounded, respectful, and genuinely your own.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to gain an understanding of what you would like from therapy. It鈥檚 a chance for you to ask questions, talk about what has brought you, and get a sense of how the work might feel.

There鈥檚 no pressure to know exactly what you want or to say things in the 鈥渞ight鈥 way. Many people find the first session helps to unburden and begin to feel more at ease.

My hope is that you leave the initial session feeling supported, clearer, and with a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer clinical supervision online or in person, following the British Psychological Society鈥檚 supervision framework, for which I hold formal certification. My approach is warm, collaborative and reflective, and I aim to create a space where practitioners feel safe to bring the full reality of their work 鈥 the uncertainties, the moments of clarity, and the areas that feel more complex or emotionally demanding.

I work mainly with qualified therapists who already have an established grounding in their practice and are looking for a thoughtful, supportive supervisory relationship. My style is steady and containing, with gentle challenge where it鈥檚 needed, and I hold an awareness of the natural power differences within supervision so these do not overshadow honest and open exploration.

Therapists are welcome to bring anything that feels present for them: complex client material, ethical considerations, relational dynamics, countertransference, boundary questions or the emotional impact of the work itself. I aim to offer alternative ways of thinking without imposing a particular modality or direction, always respecting the therapist鈥檚 individuality and established way of working.

My therapeutic background is pluralistic, drawing from a wide range of models. This breadth allows supervision to remain flexible and responsive, supporting practitioners to think creatively and deepen their clinical understanding. My intention is that supervision feels grounding and enriching, and that therapists leave sessions with greater clarity, confidence and connection to their own therapeutic voice.

Practice description

I am an accredited member of both 麻豆原创 and NCPS with substantial experience as a private practitioner, giving me a clear understanding of the emotional, ethical and practical realities therapists meet in their work. My aim in supervision is to offer a thoughtful, grounded relationship where practitioners feel supported in the ongoing development of their clinical thinking and professional identity.

My clinical background includes work with adults and extensive experience in couples and relationship therapy. Joint work brings a particular set of challenges, such as managing differing perspectives, shifts in alliance, attachment sensitivities and the intensity that can arise when partners are in conflict. I help supervisees explore these dynamics and make sense of what emerges in the room, strengthening their confidence in working relationally.

I work pluralistically, drawing on a wide range of therapeutic models. This allows supervision to remain adaptable and responsive to the needs of the individual practitioner. I respect that therapists have their own preferred ways of understanding and engaging with clients, and my intention is to support and extend that rather than direct them toward a single approach.

Supervision with me offers space to reflect on clinical material, explore areas that feel uncertain, and consider the impact of the work on the practitioner. Whether discussing complex presentations, relational processes, or the demands of working in private practice, my focus is on helping therapists feel resourced, steady and connected to their own therapeutic voice.
