About me and my therapy practice

With many years of experience working with trauma, and having previously worked within a specialist organisation, supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse, I bring depth, compassion and clinical expertise to my work. It has been a profound privilege to support individuals who have endured significant adversity and are now seeking healing, autonomy and renewed self-trust.

Whilst I work with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties, I have particular expertise in supporting adults who feel stuck in unhelpful coping strategies. These may include restrictive or binge eating, purging behaviours, over-exercising, alcohol misuse, emotional withdrawal, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or high-functioning self-destructive patterns of behaviour.  Often these behaviours once served a protective function, but now maintain distress, shame, or exhaustion.

I specialise in Eating Disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders, and ARFID, as well as chronic dieting, emotional overeating and body image distress.  I am a Master Practitioner with the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCfED) in the UK, integrating evidence-based nutritional rehabilitation alongside psychological therapy where appropriate.  My approach combines emotional processing with practical stabilisation, supporting clients in restoring both physical and psychological balance.

I have extensive experience, working with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), complex trauma and C-PTSD, including self-harm and suicidal ideation.  My work is trauma-informed and paced carefully, helping clients understand survival adaptations without pathologising them. Together, I work with the client towards nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and the rebuilding of a coherent, compassionate sense of self.

I also work with neurodivergent adults, including ASD, ADHD and AuDHD presentations.  I support both formally diagnosed and self-identifying individuals.

Practice description

It would be a privilege to work with you, supporting you to find choices and meaning where you may have believed that neither would have seemed possible. We can find a way of how to move forwards, into a future with confidence whereby you feel stronger, happier and confident.  I work with warmth, honesty, and compassion; and I use a unique blend of therapeutic techniques to suit your individual needs.

I am aware that it takes courage to begin therapy, and seeking support is often the hardest. I warmly invite you to get in touch and book a free 15-minute consultation to get a sense of how we might work together. (https//www.lisacrafter.com).

I work both in-person and online, making therapy easily accessible, nationally and internationally.

I offer individual one-to-one therapy for adults aged 18 and over.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Eating Disorders and Obesity and I'm a Master Practitioner with the National Centre of Eating Disorders (London).  I also have an Advanced Diploma in Neurodiversity.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory, a BSc First-class Honours Degree in Psychology, Certificates in Counselling Studies and Counselling Skills; Certificate in Trauma and Complex PTSD.

I am a registered member of Â鶹ԭ´´, and a graduate member of BPS.

My first session

If my page resonates with you, I warmly invite you to email me to book your free 15-minute consultation to get a sense of how we can work together.  It is so important to find a therapist that you can truly connect with.

This will give you the opportunity to share something of what brings you to therapy, to ask any questions and to understand a little more about what I can offer you.

There is absolutely no pressure to book an appointment, but should you decide to go ahead, we will find a mutually convenient weekly time for your therapy sessions.  Once payment has been made by bank transfer, your place is secure, and I will email you a confirmation with my Welcome Pack containing a therapy consent form.

For further information, please visit my website at https://www.lisacrafter.com or email me at contact@lisacrafter.com.
