About me and my therapy practice

I’m a warm therapist with a good sense of humour and I can also be direct and challenging - you’ve come for help and I'm here for it.

I’ve been working as a psychotherapist for over 10 years now, having qualified from my masters degree in 2018, delivering therapy throughout training. My approach is primarily based on Psychodynamic and Gestalt theories. Alongside my private practice I've worked in the NHS as a senior counsellor for almost 5 years. I'm fully accredited, meeting the Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s 'higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner'.

Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck and hopeless that aspects of their current situation could change. When there's that part of you that worries this feeling will last forever, or that you can't move on, or that the same pattern or type of relationship keeps repeating itself and you can’t seem to shake it.

Others come to therapy because there is something niggling that won’t quite budge on its own. Perhaps an emptiness that lingers when there isn’t much going on in life, or a loneliness that’s there even when you’re with people. Maybe you’d just like to feel more enthusiastic about work or socialising and aren’t quite sure how to get there.

The psychotherapy I offer can help with these kinds of things. I’d like to help you explore what exactly is contributing to you feeling this way, and to look at how you’ve found yourself in this situation (again?). I can most likely show you how the unexpected parts of your past are at the core of this low mood, anxiety or hopelessness you’re feeling.

My approach considers what’s going on for you now in light of your past experiences. Our past experiences set up a template for how we understand and navigate the world throughout our lives. Some of this you might have a good understanding of, though I can guarantee you there is still a lot about yourself that is yet to learn, and that’s what makes this work so valuable.

Practice description

Couples

I also work with couples who are in a committed relationship, where one or both partners experience low mood, anxiety, or other kinds of distress, and recognise that the quality of the relationship is impacted. Emotional difficulties can naturally affect how satisfied we feel with our partners and vice versa. I offer a space to work with these relational dynamics to help both partners feel happier and more satisfied both as individuals and within the relationship. This type of therapy involves thinking about how each partner’s histories become woven into the current relationship, exploring communication styles, conflict patterns and intimacy.

My fees for couples sessions are £120 per session
