Testimonial from long-term client
"You've shown me what a truly meaningful counselling relationship feels like - one where I've felt deeply heard, supported, and understood. Your presence and care have helped me grow in ways I didn't think possible"
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Kerrie, I am a fully qualified, experienced, Â鶹Դ´ Integrative counsellor. I have over 25 years experience working in helping professions, professions that have required sensitivity, compassion and connection.
My own early experiences of trauma set me on a deeply personal journey of healing through therapy. That therapeutic process became interwoven with my educational path, ultimately guiding me toward becoming a counsellor myself. This lived experience continues to shape my work, allowing me to meet others with empathy, authenticity, and a deep understanding of the healing journey.
I was naturally drawn towards working with individuals who carry the impact of early developmental, and relational trauma into their present lives. These experiences often show up through relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and deep feelings of shame. My own therapeutic journey has given me a profound understanding of these struggles, which deeply informs and enriches the way I work with others.
Working with the embodied impact of early trauma is a central part of my practice. I pay close attention to how these experiences live on in the body - often showing up as tension, dysregulation or chronic stress and pain.
However a person's distress may manifest, the heart of my work is to support each individual in feeling more able to cope with the complexities of life.
At the core of my practice lies a deep respect for the individuality of each client. Regardless of the issue, I offer space grounded in compassion, kindness and acceptance.
Practice description
Integrative Therapy: Mind and Body in Harmony
I support my clients with care and compassion as they begin to build a more trusting and less overwhelming relationship with their emotions—if and when they feel ready. This process unfolds within the safety and containment of the therapeutic relationship, offering a secure space to explore their inner world at their own pace.
Through this work, clients often find greater autonomy and freedom in their decision-making and life choices. It also provides a framework for deepening their connection to themselves and others, fostering a sense of empowerment, clarity, and emotional resilience.
I offer both talking therapy and somatic therapy, creating a space where thoughts, emotions, and the embodied experience are all part of the healing process-research shows that true healing often needs to include the whole person, both mind and body.
That's because our bodies can hold onto stress, trauma, and emotional pain-even when we're not consciously aware of it. You might notice this as tension, restlessness, or feeling disconnected from yourself.
How might this look within my practice?
This might involve noticing sensations like tension, restlessness, or numbness-and exploring what this might be communicating. By gently tuning into the body in this way, we can begin to understand and release deeper layers of experience, that may be keeping us stuck, this may allow you to feel more present , connected and in control.
I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who’ve experienced emotional neglect, unmet needs, or abuse in early childhood. These early experiences often shape how we relate to others and ourselves in adulthood, and may show up as:
Relationship difficulties
Painful or repeating patterns in how you connect with others
Anxiety, depression, or chronic stress
Physical symptoms or health concerns
No matter how distress manifests, my goal is to help you feel more resilient and better equipped to navigate life’s complexities.
My first session
A key part of the therapy process is working with a therapist who feels right for you. That’s why I offer an initial session—it’s a chance for us both to get a sense of each other. You’ll learn more about how I work, and I’ll learn more about your current situation and what’s brought you to therapy at this time.
This first meeting can help you decide whether I’m the right person to support you, and it also allows me to consider whether I’m best placed to help with the issues you’re facing. There’s no pressure—just an opportunity to explore whether this therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.
