About me and my therapy practice

About Me

Hi, I’m Tom. I offer one-to-one therapy for individuals and couples, providing a supportive space where you can talk openly and feel heard. My office is based in Redbourn, and I work both in person and online, depending on what feels right for you. I bring over ten years of experience in a variety of therapeutic settings, including clinical roles at The Priory Hospital in North London and The Florence Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone.

Areas of Specialisation

My three main areas of specialisation are:

  • Emotional difficulties (anxiety, anger, depression, etc.)
  • Couples Therapy
  • Addiction & Substance Use

Emotional Difficulties

This refers to intense or disproportionate emotional experiences that often lead to harmful behaviours or relationship difficulties.

I specialise in working with:

  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Anger & Emotional Distress
  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD / EUPD)

I have trained extensively in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - an evidence-based treatment specifically developed to help with these issues.

Couples

I also specialise in working with couples. I offer an honest, open, yet robust approach to helping couples:

  • Improve communication
  • Solve problems collaboratively
  • Deepen intimacy and closeness

This may include addressing sexual difficulties, for which I have received specialised training.

Addiction & Substance Use

My background is rooted in working with addiction, and I have extensive experience helping people reduce and abstain from substance use as part of their recovery. I take a practical, behavioural, and evidence-based approach to addressing these often challenging problems. I offer both 1:1 and group options for addiction - please contact me for further details.

The above specialisations are not an exhaustive list and I have experience working with a range of psychological and behavioural areas. Please feel free to contact me if you want to discuss working together.
