About me and my therapy practice

I am a Gestalt psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, PGDip M麻豆原创 (Snr Accred). Gestalt means 鈥渨hole鈥 in German, and this approach supports the integration of your emotional, physical, and intellectual self. It is a relational therapy, which means we pay close attention to how we interact, offering insights into how you relate to others.

We focus on the here and now, exploring your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations with curiosity. We consider both present and past influences, and together, we will follow what matters most to you, those moments that feel charged or significant. These are often clues to unfinished business, unmet needs, or trauma. My role is to be alongside you, sometimes guiding, sometimes witnessing, creating a space of compassion, honesty, and healing

For those of you looking for EMDR therapy, I completed my EMDR therapy training in 2024 and have since integrated it into my Gestalt psychotherapy practice. This blended approach honour's the principles of both Gestalt therapy and EMDR, ensuring a comprehensive and tailored therapeutic experience.

If you are seeking therapy for your child or adolescent, I offer a warm, accepting space where they can explore their inner world and develop healthy emotional regulation. I build an honest, supportive relationship with each young person I work with, helping them feel seen, understood, and accepted just as they are.

In a world full of labels, it is important to remember that emotions like sadness, anger, or anxiety are normal parts of being human. I encourage a view of mental health that honours these emotional fluctuations and builds resilience through compassion.

I have been in private practice since 2019, when I retired from Hampshire Police after 3 decades in a variety of specialisms, including domestic violence, child protection and the management of officers impacted by traumatic experiences. My ability not to shy away from another's distress led me to the privilege of this vocation.

Practice description

Duration of Therapy

Our sessions are held online over zoom. The duration of therapy can vary greatly depending on individual needs and goals. Some people find that a short-term approach of a few sessions is sufficient to address specific concerns, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy to explore deeper issues and achieve lasting change. The length of therapy is ultimately a personal decision, shaped by your unique journey and the pace at which you feel comfortable progressing.

EMDR Therapy

Our work with trauma is approached with care and sensitivity. We assess your unique needs and proceed gently, focusing on areas where you need the most support. We use a variety of resourcing techniques to ensure you feel grounded and safe throughout the process. By using bilateral stimulation, we help you reprocess traumatic memories in a controlled, supportive environment, facilitating healing and fostering resilience.

Many people wonder about their level of control during EMDR therapy. It鈥檚 important to know that you remain fully in control throughout the process. You鈥檙e not being hypnotized; rather, you are guided to focus on specific memories while staying grounded in the present. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, you can pause or stop the session. This approach is designed to be safe and supportive, helping you process trauma at your own pace. Our goal is to create a space where you feel empowered and secure as we work together towards healing.

My first session

In our first session, we will have an initial consultation where we explore your reasons for seeking therapy.

This session gives us a chance to determine if we are a good fit, and allows you to ask any questions you might have.

I will also conduct a brief risk assessment to identify any areas where you might need additional support. This is an important step in laying the foundation for our therapeutic relationship.

Types of therapy

Gestalt, Humanistic, Phenomenological

Clients I work with

Adults, Children, EAP, Older adults, Trainees, Young people

How I deliver therapy

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Gestalt Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor (麻豆原创 Snr.Accred), working online.

I hold a PG Dip in Gestalt Psychotherapy (Gestalt Centre Wales) and a PG Dip in Supervision of Psychotherapy (Relational Change). I am a trained EMDR therapist (Miribilis Institute).

I use an embodied practice in supervision, being curious about my own and your body processes. This approach supports the client-therapist relationship by bringing awareness to what is happening in the moment. I am dedicated to fostering shame resilience within the supervisory relationship, remaining mindful of the many triggers that can arise within this situational context; such as imposter syndrome, working with embodiment or the potential performative aspects of presenting clients.

It is my intention to foster a mutual, trusting supervisory relationship in which you can bring your difficulties and issues with confidence.

I bring nearly three decades of experience in public protection and safeguarding, with a focus on managing complex, high-risk cases and supporting professionals affected by trauma. My background equips me to guide you effectively in navigating challenging cases, bringing a grounded and experienced approach to supervision.

I worked as a supervisor at Olive Branch Counselling Service in Winchester from 2023-2025; where I facilitated two separate groups accumulating extensive supervisory experience, supporting therapists in their professional development.

I am committed to my own personal and professional development, regularly attending CPD workshops and annual residential training with the Pacific Gestalt Institute; this allows me to consolidate my training and expand my awareness, enabling me to create the conditions of working at relational depth.

Practice description

I work with individuals and groups;  in person from my practice room in a separate building in my home in Dibden Purlieu, Southampton or online over Zoom.  Sessions can last for 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 2 hours.

My practice fosters a trusting and collaborative supervisory relationship. I bring an embodied practice that is process orientated, being attentive to mine and your body processes. I create conditions of therapeutic safety, supporting shame resilience.  This approach enables me to support you through working with complexity ,while supporting your growth and development.

Please note if you are looking for Supervision specifically for your EMDR practice, then I recommend that you seek an accredited EMDR Consultant (which I currently am not).
