About me and my therapy practice

My work is grounded in a relational, person-centred approach, with the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. I aim to create a space where you feel emotionally safe, respected, and genuinely heard. I work with empathy and attunement, responding to you as an individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Therapy is collaborative: I bring my professional experience in creating the right conditions for change, and you bring your expert knowledge of yourself. You will always be a person to me, never a case or a number. My aim is to support you at your own pace, helping you make sense of your experiences and move towards greater understanding, resilience, and wellbeing.

Practice description

Sometimes life doesn鈥檛 turn out as we hoped. Past experiences can leave us feeling hurt, confused, anxious, or low, and it isn鈥檛 always easy to share these feelings鈥攐r even know where to begin. Therapy can offer a confidential space, separate from friends or family, to explore what鈥檚 happening for you.

I have particular experience supporting people with loss in its many forms, including bereavement, relationship endings, and changes in identity or self-esteem. I also work with pregnancy- and birth-related experiences such as birth trauma, miscarriage, stillbirth, and complex feelings around termination. This includes offering a non-judgemental space for those who feel unheard or judged for being child-free. I also have several years鈥 experience supporting survivors of sexual abuse within a specialist charity.

As a qualified person-centred counsellor and mental health nurse, I offer both warmth and empathy alongside a strong professional understanding of mental health, resilience, and recovery.

With acceptance often comes change. If you are in a situation that is causing pain or discomfort, exploring your feelings and thoughts can create space for new choices. Together, we can uncover strengths and possibilities within you that may have felt hidden until now.

My first session

When you first get in touch, we鈥檒l have a brief conversation where you can share a little about what brings you to counselling. You may be feeling stressed, low, anxious, angry, confused 鈥 or perhaps a mixture of emotions. Whatever you are experiencing, there is no expectation to have the 鈥渞ight words鈥, and we can take things at your pace.

If you鈥檇 like to go ahead, we can arrange a first session either in my comfortable therapy room in Long Buckby, or online or by telephone. The first session is an opportunity for us to explore in more depth what has led you to seek counselling, what you hope therapy might offer, and whether we feel comfortable working together. This is not a test or assessment, but the beginning of building a therapeutic relationship.

I have limited face-to-face availability, but I aim to work in the way that best suits you. Online and telephone counselling can offer greater flexibility, and many people find it easier to open up when they can choose how they present themselves.
