About me and my therapy practice

We all carry within us a world uniquely shaped by what we care about and what concerns us. It is to this inner world that we endlessly return, even when we appear to inhabit a completely foreign one. Our purpose is to make the foreign familiar – to unravel the mental discomfort that makes us feel like strangers in our own world.

Coming to therapy and opening up can be a difficult decision. Therapy is a personal and private process, and each person navigates life’s challenges in their own way. I understand that taking the first step can feel stressful. However, it is important to address problems early, before they fester and begin to take control of your life and relationships. Therapy can benefit people from all walks of life, facing a wide range of challenges.

My commitment is to help you understand and change the circumstances in your life that have become obstacles to living a fulfilling life. Together, we will focus on addressing the difficulties that hold you back and work on strengthening your personality. The goal of our work will be for you to enjoy your life and relationships without feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed, and to gain a deeper understanding of yourself along with the freedom to resolve conflicts in new, constructive ways.

Practice description

I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counselling from the University of Edinburgh.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist with over ten years of experience working in various settings in the UK and abroad. Since 2019, I have been running a private practice in Edinburgh, offering both in-person and online sessions.

My previous experience includes working as a therapist in support groups, and in the third sector with various charities, specialising in trauma and abuse, addiction, and suicide prevention.

These are some of the issues I usually work with in private practice:

-Anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse.

-Relationship difficulties, family and work issues, loss and grief.

-Personality disorders

-Loneliness, long-term emotional discomfort, loss of meaning in life.

I also offer Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) which is an NHS-approved treatment designed for personality disorders, such as Borderline and Narcissistic Personality Disorders. If you are interested in learning more about getting a TFP treatment or have general queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The topics listed above are only indicative. If you are unsure whether your concern falls within my scope of work, please feel free to contact me by email with your questions.

My first session

The initial consultation will last an hour and a half and is £90. During this session, we will look at the main issues that have brought you to therapy, along with your personal history, current concerns, and how we might work together. There is no obligation to continue beyond this initial consultation should you decide not to proceed.
