About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults who are struggling to manage sexual urges or behaviours that feel out of control, including compulsive pornography use, infidelity, and intimacy difficulties. Many of my clients describe feeling stuck in patterns of secrecy, shame, or guilt despite their best efforts to change. My role is to help you understand what drives these patterns and support you in developing the tools and self-awareness needed for lasting recovery.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and grounded in current research into Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Disorder (CSBD). I draw upon psychodynamic, attachment-based, and neurobiological principles to help clients build emotional regulation, deepen self-compassion, and strengthen healthy connection with others.
Central to my practice is the belief that recovery is not simply about stopping a behaviour, but about rediscovering who you are beneath it - rebuilding confidence, trust, and genuine intimacy. I work collaboratively, at a pace that feels safe for you, and in a confidential, non-judgemental space where difficult experiences can be explored with honesty and respect.
Practice description
My practice specialises in the assessment and treatment of Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Disorder (CSBD) and related issues such as pornography addiction, infidelity, and intimacy difficulties. Sessions are available in person in Preston and online throughout the UK and internationally via Zoom.
I use the Integrative Approach for Treating Sex Addiction (IATSA), a model I developed under the mentorship of Dr Thaddeus Birchard and Dr Alex Katehakis. This approach combines elements of trauma therapy, psychodynamic exploration, and neurobiological understanding to create sustainable change and long-term recovery.
Clients can expect a structured yet flexible therapeutic process, with clear goals and ongoing collaboration. I place a strong emphasis on psychoeducation, emotional regulation, and the development of healthier relational patterns.
Alongside therapy, I provide professional supervision, training, and consultation to clinicians and treatment centres. My practice upholds the ethical standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC).
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether my approach feels like a good fit for you.
During this session, we will discuss your background, key concerns, and current goals. I may ask some structured assessment questions to help identify patterns of behaviour and underlying emotional factors. This helps us shape a clear and personalised treatment plan.
I offer a free 20-minute Zoom consultation before committing to therapy, providing a confidential space to ask questions and discuss how therapy might support you.
Subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes long and held weekly. All sessions are confidential, and I maintain the highest professional and ethical standards in accordance with Â鶹Դ´.
