About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Trauma Therapist
My training emphasises the importance of mutual relationship and it is my aim to develop a relationship that is safe, reparative and corrective, especially if the original parental relationship was abusive or deficient. This is the foundation on which further therapeutic exploration is built on.
We will explore your past experiences and be curious about your patterns of behaviour; understand how they developed, make the links between the past and the present and question how helpful they might still be today. We will wonder about their impact on your present situation and explore whether you are looking to introduce some changes.
We will work on identifying what needs are not met and consider ways to meet them, first in the safety of therapeutic setting and then ‘out there’.
My approach is trauma-informed, meaning, I help you consider what impact traumatic experiences had on you psychologically and physically. I utilise body as another tool to help heal trauma wounds.
Presently, I am enrolled on a ‘ADHD Clinical Service Provider Certified Course’ to understand better how ADHD interfere with clients’ functioning and development, and to ascertain how I can make therapy more befitting to their needs.
Practice description
Accessing counselling can feel a daunting, confusing and anxious process. We feel we need to reach out for some support but are unsure what we want or what is the best way forward.
Making a phone call or sending an email is as a good start as any. The important thing to remember is that counselling is collaborative process where I will encourage communication and dialogue.
I will not judge you or shame you for questioning; the purpose is to explore what brought you here. Together we can explore what is right for you as everyone’s needs are different and every client's story deserves to be heard.
Sometimes clients need time and space to start feeling safe and comfortable to share their story. Often boundaries of therapeutic relationship offer that safety.
The therapy is client led however goals are discussed and regularly reviewed. We work around these, but there is still freedom to deviate and explore more pressing matters as and when they arise.
Therapy can be open-ended or time-limited. This is explored and discussed together. When the time comes to think of the ending, we will agree a date and work towards an ending that is mutual and on client’s terms.
My first session
I offer informal free phone conversation to help us establish suitability and availability.
At the first session, you can get a feel about the way I work. We will explore and discuss your needs, goals and collectively agree a way forward.
