About me and my therapy practice

Based in York city centre, I am a Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited Counsellor supporting adults with a wide range of issues. I have particular experience working with Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.

Perhaps you are struggling with changes that seem out of your control, with difficult decisions you are trying to work through, or maybe you find yourself in the same situations or repeating life patterns. Difficult relationships can leave us confused and wondering what is abuse, gaslighting or coercive control.

You maybe finding that anxiety, low-self esteem and depression are impacting on your daily life, or that you need a safe space to heal after distressing life experiences. Issues that have felt manageable up to now, or felt safely in the past, may have come to the surface.

Having worked in a specialist sexual violence and domestic abuse organisation (Aegis), I have experience supporting clients with CPTSD, flashbacks and panic attacks. Many people who have experienced abuse struggle with relationships, self-doubt, trust, confusion, shame and with processing their experience.

While working in General and Charitable Counselling Organisations and a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, I gained further experience, including working with bereavement, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space where we can work at a pace that feels right for you. Together we will work alongside one another helping you make sense of your experiences, thoughts and feelings.

As an Integrative Humanistic counsellor, I draw on counselling approaches most suited to your needs as a unique individual.

I will not give advice or opinions, but together we will build a therapeutic relationship, where you can be assured your thoughts and emotions will be truly heard and understood with respect and without judgement.

Our initial consultation session is free of charge with no obligation. You will choose whether counselling is on a long or short term basis.
