About me and my therapy practice
Although I work with people with a range of issues I specifically focus on: -
- Social Anxiety
- Anxiety & Depression
- Trauma
- Grief & Loss
I am updating my website and this will explain in more depth how I work with these conditions.
In generaI terms, I work using evidence based approaches including CBT to address and elevate immediate issues, while exploring their roots and supporting long term healing.
This approach should both help you deal with what's happening now and build resilience so the issues do not keep coming back.
This is all done, in a safe and pleasant environment with privacy and confidentiality.
Practice description
I have my own specific programme which guides my work called My Hill 2 Climb.
This accepts that as well as diagnosed conditions and labels attached to mental health, each person has their own experiences, their own issues, their own life.
We will work to describe your experiences and your challenges and develop, from evidenced based approaches, a plan to help you move forward.
We use the hill metaphor to describe what life is like today, to track progress, to review where we have got to and to look ahead.
My Hill 2 Climb is further supported with the offer of Outdoor Therapy which brings the dimensions of fresh air, connection with nature and relaxation (for some). Please ask about this is for are interested.
I would generally say that 7 weekly face to face sessions is advisable to start. At this point we can review and plan the path forward; this may complete the therapy, we may change frequency, move outdoor, even move on-line.
My first session
I offer free consultations which last about 30 minutes. This is an opportunity to understand your challenges, for me to explain how I work in more detail and answer any questions. If all goes well we would then set up the first session.
The first session is about building a picture of you today and your challenges, your environment and relationships, some of your history and importantly your hopes.
I will ask for the contact details of a trusted adult and / or GP.
This will set the foundations of the sessions we have together.
