I offer in-person sessions at Heaton Moor Counselling and Therapy Centre on Monday evenings from 4-9pm, as well as online and telephone sessions Tuesday to Thursday daytime and evening.

The men's therapy group is set to run on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm and will start as soon as there are enough members.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe deeply in the healing potentials of compassion, empathy and self-awareness as a means of healing psychological wounds and helping us reach our full potential. I aim to build an authentic and trusting relationship with the clients I work with and cultivate an environment of unconditional acceptance and non-judgement.

I work in a flexible way depending on the needs of each individual client, and am happy to work with people for as long as they find helpful, whether that be weeks, months, or years. My focus is on building a therapeutic relationship in which the client feels seen, heard, and accepted for who they are.

My training and qualifications include:

- Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling (2018)

- Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (2021)

- Certificate in Jungian and Post-Jungian Clinical Concepts (2022)

- Advanced Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling (2022)

I am also in the process of setting up a men's psychotherapy group which will run from the Heaton Moor Counselling and Therapy Centre on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm. More details can be found at my website, and I welcome anyone who may be interested to get in touch.

For those interested in individual therapy, please feel free to contact me to arrange an initial consultation free of charge. We can discuss what you might like to work on and you can get to meet me and see what it would be like to work together.

Practice description

After the initial consultation, if you decide to continue we would book an initial six sessions to explore what you'd like to work on. Following that I can work for as short or as long as necessary, depending on individual need, and reviewing along the way to check we're meeting your goals for therapy.

Sessions last 50mins.  I offer in-person, online (Zoom) and telephone sessions at £45, with a limited number of low cost slots at £35 for people on low incomes.

For those interested in the therapy group, this will start with an individual consultation to discuss your needs and whether the group would be suitable. If you decide to continue the sessions will run on a Tuesday evening from 7-9pm and cost £30 per session.

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation which lasts 50mins. This is an opportunity for you to meet me and ask any questions you may have, as well as to talk through in more detail some of the issues you'd like to work on in therapy. There is no obligation to continue afterwards, and you can have some time to think about whether you'd like to start working together. It is generally recommended to speak to a few therapists to see who you'd work with best, as a good therapeutic relationship is one of the primary factors in successful therapy.

I currently have availability for online supervision on Fridays, with some flexibility for other daytime appointments in the week.

About me and my therapy practice

I have been working in the field of mental health for over a decade, initially as a mental health support worker, and for the last seven years as a counsellor and therapist in private practice. Over that time I have worked with a wide variety of people experiencing all kinds of psychological and emotional distress, developing an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy with a core emphasis on a supportive and attuned therapeutic relationship.

My aim in supervision is to provide a positive and supportive environment for supervisees that helps them to become the most effective practitioner they can be. I work in a flexible way that is tailored to the individual needs of the person I'm working with, identifying in collaboration with them what kind of support will be most useful.

My supervision work follows the Integrative Development Model. This provides a helpful framework for identifying areas of potential growth and development in clinical skills and professional practice, supporting people to continue to learn and grow through the entirety of their working career.

My primary therapy training is in Transactional Analysis Counselling and Integrative Psychotherapy. My therapeutic approach combines some of the core TA concepts and ways of working with frameworks from other modalities, including (among others):

- Parts work for CPTSD and dissociative disorders (primarily based on Janina Fischer's Trauma-Informed Stabilisation Treatment)

- Elinor Greenberg's framework for working with personality and attachment disorders

- Creative exploration of symbol and metaphor in dreams and active imagination from Jungian psychotherapy

- The model of emotional coherence and deep transformational change from Coherence Therapy

I have also worked with the Climate Psychology Alliance for the last couple of years providing sessions to individuals suffering with climate anxiety and ecological distress, and I'm a trained facilitator for their climate cafe's.
