About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Mary. I'm a warm and approachable therapist, highly experienced in working with adults with a wide of issues.
I am a psychodynamic and person-centred therapist, and over the last 10+ years, I have developed particular interests in neurodivergence, LGBT identities, anxiety, and the mind-body connection. I have a pluralistic approach, which means that I work collaboratively with you, drawing on a variety of therapeutic methods to fit your unique needs. This flexible approach allows us to find ways of working that suit you best, to support your personal growth.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning who you are and where your life is going, you can bring whatever's on your mind, no matter how big or small, for gentle and honest exploration. In this way we can work together to allow you to reconnect with a deeper sense of yourself.
Practice description
I mostly see people at my cosy therapy room on Causewayside, although I can also offer Zoom sessions if it's difficult for you to meet in person. My room is on the first floor, and unfortunately there is no lift, so is not accessible for wheelchair users or people with very limited mobility.
Sessions last 50 minutes, and will usually be at the same time weekly. I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, as well as ONEplus (single session) therapy, and we can discuss your preferences regarding this during our introductory meeting.
My first session
Whe you first get in touch with me, I can offer you a free 15 minute chat to discuss what's bringing you to therapy, and for you to ask me any questions you might have.
If you want to proceed with working with me, I will send you a registration form, which gives me a bit more detail about yourself. There's no obligation to complete this, but may people find it helpful in preparing for therapy. In our first session I take care to help you feel as at ease as possible, and we will start to explore in more detail how therapy might support you.
I usually suggest starting with six sessions, as this should give you a good idea as to whether you're finding it helpful and wish to continue. Of course there's no obligation to have six sessions, and if you're interested in ONEplus (single session) therapy, we can arrange sessions on a "one at a time" basis.
