My first session
What to Expect in Sessions
Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting. My intention is to create a welcoming and supportive environment from our very first meeting. During our initial session, we will talk about what brings you to counselling, discuss your hopes and goals, and address any questions or concerns you may have. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and decide whether we are a good fit for working together.
I offer a full 60 minute session typically last 60 minutes and the frequency is discussed between us and adapted to suit your needs. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, whether you are seeking support for a specific issue or wish to explore aspects of your life more deeply. My practice is flexible, and I offer sessions in person or online to accommodate your preferences and lifestyle.
Feedback and Collaboration
I value your feedback and view our work as a partnership. Throughout our sessions, I will encourage you to share your thoughts on how things are going and let me know if there is anything you would like to change or focus on. Your input is vital in shaping the counselling process and ensuring that you get the most out of our time together.
Making Contact
If you are considering counselling and would like to learn more or arrange an initial session, I invite you to get in touch. Together, we can explore how counselling might be able to support you on your journey.
Final Thoughts
Seeking support is a sign of strength and self-awareness. Whether you are experiencing a specific challenge or simply wish to better understand yourself, counselling can offer a space for reflection, growth, and healing. I am here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, empathy, and encouragement as you move forward.

Availability
I currently have supervision availability within my practice.
About me and my therapy practice
I believe that Counselling Supervision is all about helping other counsellors grow, making sure we work ethically, and supporting each other through the ups and downs. My journey as a supervisor isn鈥檛 just about degrees and jobs, but about encouraging others and believing in what we do together.
I have been a private practice counsellor for seven years now, I am lucky enough to work from my home address in Newton Aycliffe and work a lot with people who have suffered relational trauma. Much of my initial work was in bereavement but I hsve worked alot with a variety of clients presenting with a variety of issues.
My base training is person centred and I very firmly believe in a strong therapeutic relationship both in counselling and supervision. My practice is also informed but psychodynamic approaches, TA and solution focused therapy. I hold a Diploma in Clinical and Counselling supervision which included the use of creative mediums which I also use where appropriate.
My Supervision Style
Every supervisee, like every client, is different, so I aim to meet you where you鈥檙e at. Building trust and having honest, open chats are really important to me. I want people to feel safe talking about challenges, sharing wins, or working through tricky situations.
I mix and match supervision models depending on what鈥檚 needed:
鈥 Developmental Models: I change my approach as you gain experience, giving more direction when you鈥檙e new, and more space as you grow.
鈥 Integrative Models: I draw on different counselling theories and help you find the mix that works best for you.
鈥 Reflective Practice: We鈥檒l talk through cases, ask questions, and reflect together, so you can get to know yourself as a practitioner.
My core values are kindness, being real, and fairness. We鈥檒l talk boundaries, confidentiality, and how to work well with people from all backgrounds. I encourage supervisees to think about power dynamics and how our own backgrounds shape the work we do.
Practice description
What I Bring to Supervision
I try to make supervision a space where you can be yourself. Some things I focus on include:
鈥 Listening properly
鈥 Helpful feedback: I鈥檓 honest but supportive鈥擨 want you to feel challenged and encouraged
鈥 Empathy: Getting where you鈥檙e coming from, both personally and professionally
鈥 Making sense of things: Helping you work through complicated cases and plan next steps
鈥 Boundaries: Making sure we keep things professional and safe for everyone involved
鈥 Cultural awareness: Being sensitive to what makes each of us unique
What Matters to Me
I believe everyone I supervise brings something special to the table, and I love helping people find their confidence and style. My aim is to support you while helping you become more independent. I keep up with ethical guidelines and like to make sure we talk openly about any dilemmas or challenges.
Diversity and Inclusion
I鈥檓 committed to making the supervision space open to everyone, regardless of culture, race, gender, sexuality, ability, or background. I work on recognising my own biases and encourage you to do the same. Together, we can explore how to work well with all clients and keep learning about social issues that affect our work.
Looking Ahead
Supervision is a lifelong journey for me. I鈥檓 always looking for feedback and ways to improve, whether that鈥檚 learning more about trauma, exploring online supervision, or working with people from different backgrounds. I鈥檓 excited about the future of counselling and want to help make it as ethical, inclusive, and effective as possible.
Final Thoughts
In the end, being a counselling supervisor is about connection, growth, and ethical care. I鈥檓 grateful for the chance to support others on their journey and to help create a community where both counsellors and clients can thrive.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute online session initially where we can chat about what you need from your supervison and work out if we are a good fit. This is what my supervisor offered when I was looking to change and it was really helpful in my choice. Please get in touch if you feel this would be helpful.
