About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counselling psychologist registered with the HCPC. Additionally, I am also registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and BPS. With over sixteen years of professional experience, I am highly accomplished and have experience of working with individual clients as well as families from various age groups and diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. I have worked with a range of mental health presentations and needs including anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD and cPTSD as well as specific learning disabilities such ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome. I have also worked with vulnerable and distressed clients who have been through experiences of discrimination, disempowerment and abuse.
I am from South-Asian background and I understand the unique challenges that can arise when navigating cultural identity, family obligations, and mental health. I provide a space where you don’t have to explain what ‘saving face’ or ‘intergenerational expectations’ mean. I offer therapy that is affirming, relational, and culturally aware and grounded in respect for both individuality and the communities we come from.
I have worked with clients who have experienced difficulties and issues linked to identity and meeting cultural pressures and expectations and have experienced conflict arising from generational differences impacting their quality of life, especially in terms of autonomy, choice and control.
I understand that seeking therapy can feel unfamiliar or even taboo in some communities. My approach is compassionate, grounded, and culturally sensitive—I create a space where you can explore your inner world without fear of judgment, shame, or the need to explain your culture.
Clients often come to me to work through:
• Anxiety, overthinking, and burnout
• Depression or emotional numbness
• Cultural and family expectations
• Low self-worth or imposter syndrome
• Intergenerational trauma and identity conflict
