I am available for sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 8:30am to 6:00pm, with a variety of times offered across both days. My remote sessions are conducted via Google Meets, and I will send you a link on the day of each scheduled session.
If preferred, sessions can also be held over the phone, providing flexibility if that suits you better.
About me and my therapy practice
I create a warm, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. My approach is primarily Person-Centred, valuing your expertise as the best authority on yourself. I aim to foster a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind—be it specific issues, life questions, or broader concerns.
In sessions, I focus on genuine understanding through active listening and empathetic communication. I seek to understand your present experience and reflect that understanding clearly, helping you feel heard and validated. This supportive foundation allows us to explore your personal goals, uncertainties, or challenges more deeply and safely.
I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), a structured, evidence-based therapy particularly effective for processing trauma and distressing memories. EMDR sessions tend to be more targeted and can be brief or longer-term depending on your needs. I often integrate EMDR with my person-centred approach, ensuring you remain in control and feel safe throughout.
You decide how to focus each session—whether talking openly about your life, working through specific memories, or simply reflecting. Sessions are typically 50 or 90 minutes, scheduled flexibly to suit your preferences. Most are conducted online for convenience, but I also offer 'walk and talk' therapy outdoors in Morley, which many clients find grounding and revitalising.
My aim is to support your growth, self-awareness, and healing, respecting your unique journey. Whether short-term or longer-term, I work on your terms to help you feel more empowered in your life.
Practice description
My practice combines warmth, professionalism, and flexibility. I offer both Person-Centred and EMDR therapies, tailoring sessions to your individual needs. Person-Centred therapy provides a safe, open space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings freely, without judgment or direction. It’s ideal if you want to reflect on life issues, personal growth, or simply need a compassionate space to be yourself.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) is a more structured approach designed to help you process specific distressing memories or experiences. It is particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and phobias. During EMDR sessions, we identify targeted memories to work on, usually starting with a collaborative discussion to clarify your goals. EMDR sessions are typically 90 minutes, but I also offer 50-minute sessions for less intensive work or check-ins.
You are welcome to combine both approaches—some sessions may be open-ended and person-centred, while others focus on EMDR processing. This flexibility allows us to adapt therapy to what feels right for you at each stage.
My fees are £50 for 50-minutes or £90 for 90-minutes. I am committed to accessibility and offer lower-cost slots for those who need them. If you can afford to, I also provide a 'pay it forward' option to support others at reduced rates.
With many years of experience supporting adults, young people and children—including managing a therapeutic service in a primary school and teaching counselling—I am well-equipped to work with a diverse range of issues. I also have specialist qualifications in counselling children.
I am also LGBT+ friendly and openly affirming. Additionally, I am poly-aware and kink-aware, offering a safe, accepting space for those exploring or questioning BDSM or polyamory, or seeking to understand their feelings. I mention this to be transparent and to help those who may find my practice inclusive and understanding of diverse identities and relationship styles.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute introductory chat, which provides an opportunity for us to meet, introduce ourselves, and discuss what you’re seeking from therapy. This session is informal and designed to help you feel comfortable and ask any questions you may have about the process. It’s also a chance for me to understand your needs and explain how I work.
Following the introductory chat, we will arrange a full therapy session at the standard rate. The initial therapy session is an opportunity to explore your current feelings, experiences, and goals in more depth. I tend to keep things organic—there are no formal assessment forms or questionnaires unless something specific arises naturally during our conversation.
During this first session, I may ask you what you hope to gain from therapy and how you’d like to approach our work together. If you have a preference for EMDR, Person-Centred, or a combination, I’ll discuss how that can be integrated into our sessions. I focus on creating a safe space where you can share at your own pace, and I adapt to your needs as we go.
There’s no pressure to have all the answers in the first session; it’s about beginning to build a trusting relationship and understanding how I can best support you. If relevant, I may also offer guidance or resources organically during the session, but only if it feels appropriate and helpful for you.
