About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome; my name is Rhiannon. I'm a relational integrative therapist based in Margate. I work both in person and online.
Who do I work with?
I work with both individuals and couples.
Individual therapy:
I have 10 years experience in private practice and the NHS, working with individuals presenting with a broad range of issues from anxiety and depression to more complex mental health issues such as complex PTSD.
Psychosexual and relationship therapy:
I work with couples to navigate difficulties such as conflict, emotional and sexual disconnection, poor communication, loss of trust and a mismatch in sexual desire, amongst other issues.
For individuals psychosexual therapy can help to address issues such as anxiety around sex, past sexual trauma, low desire, sexual pain or feeling disconnected from your own body or from your partner.
The therapeutic relationship:
The strength of the relationship between myself and my clients is central to my practice. It is essential that you feel comfortable with the person you're working with. I nurture my clients trust, and create a non-judgemental, safe, supportive and open-minded space.
I鈥檓 not what鈥檚 called a 鈥渂lank screen therapist鈥; I bring myself to our work, and I engage in a here-and-now dialogue with my clients. I see therapy as a collaborative process and I always encourage honest and open feedback.
What is relational integrative psychotherapy?
Relational psychotherapy focuses on building healthier, more fulfilling relationships and a greater sense of wellbeing. In therapy this involves using our therapeutic relationship as a tool for healing. We also explore your relationships past and present, to help you better understand your relational patterns.
Being an integrative therapist means I tailor our work to your individual needs. I draw from different psychotherapeutic models, namely psychodynamic, humanistic and somatic approaches.
Practice description
My work is underpinned by my commitment to diversity and inclusion. I am a neurodivergent affirming therapist. I welcome clients from all cultures, gender identities, sexualities and relationships styles.
I work from a trauma-informed perspective, holding in mind the impact that trauma can have on relationships, emotional regulation and behavioural patterns.
Specialisms:
- Supporting new parents
I have a specialist interest in maternal mental health, supporting mothers and couples with the huge transition into parenthood.
- Birth trauma therapy
I offer stand-alone therapy sessions for mothers (and partners) who have experienced a traumatic or difficult birth; offering a space to reflect and process their experience. More information can be found on my website.
Qualifications:
PGDip Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy
MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
Practitioner License in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression
