About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.
I am a qualified mental health nurse with experience of thirty seven years’ working in the NHS. I have built on my nursing career and knowledge by undertaking further postgraduate studies in counselling and psychotherapy. I have experience of working with people with a range of mental health needs and have worked in a variety of settings including community.
At times of emotional distress and crisis, feeling can be overwhelming and painful. Change and confronting difficulties can be frightening, it can feel that staying with familiar ways of being is the safest option. I believe that everyone has the inherent potential to grow, change and heal. I offer a safe , warm, supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore issues of concern, relationships, and unhelpful patterns of behavior.
I provide a confidential counselling and psychotherapy service for Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. I offer counselling sessions in a private, quiet environment a few minutes walk from Ledbury train station. I can tailor the number of sessions to your individual needs, providing long and short term work, and can offer evening and weekend appointments.
How will I work with you ?
I work in relational manner, this means the relationship created between myself and the client, becomes the vehicle to explore the areas of concern. I seek to build positive , empathetic relationships with clients so that the relationship between us becomes an supportive environment to promote healing, growth and change.
I have integrated into my practice mindfulness techniques and meditation sessions which can be helpful when experiencing painful emotions and anxiety.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.
Do you feel now is the time for you to feel more empowered? change unhelpful ways of being ?
Grow as a person?
Work towards meeting your needs to enhance your well being and relationships ?
I offer a bespoke service based on your assessed needs, using a relational model of psychotherapy. I have over 40 years of experience of working with people with mental health needs and well being challenges. This includes problems with anxiety, low mood, trauma including sexual abuse, bereavement including complex bereavement by suicide and chronic illnesses. The model I use is integrates theories of Getelst, person centered and attachment theory.
Practice description
I have a private therapy room in Ledbury, 10mins walk from station, with Private parking and access to bathroom facilities.
As I work in a relational modality the relationship between us becomes a key aspect of the work. I will support you as we gently work on your issues of concerns, explore " roots" of difficulties often based in early childhood experiences and attachments styles. I often used the methophere of the mind being like a caving system, which we explore safely together. I respect clients fears and rights not to go into the " darker caves" and will work at your pace. I will provide support so these caves are less frightening .
With raised awareness of these " dark" places, how they are formed, keep you stuck in less helpful ways of being, comes the opportunity for growth . Raised awareness of your ways of beings often facilities healing and change. A new empowered relationship with the " dark places" .
I often use creative approaches such as music, art, metaphors to access feelings , emotions when words are too difficult or stuck.
I use mindfulness techniques and mediation so that you can learn to self sooth intense emotions and learn to meet your needs .
I will always respect your uniques, individual psychological process and seek to provide a nurturing, safe space where growth can occur.
My first session
The first session is an assessment of your needs and to explore what you would like to work on. This gives you an opportunity to see if you feel we can work together, ask any questions and to see if you would like to proceed with therapy. This lasts 50 mins.
I aim to provide a safe , warm, non judgemental space to explore these issues
