About me and my therapy practice

My name is Martin, and I’m a BPC-accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist. I have many years experience of working with adults who have faced a wide range of emotional challenges. I provide a warm, thoughtful and confidential space to explore issues such as stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression and relationship difficulties etc.

I understand how daunting it might seem to talk about deeply personal matters—especially if these experiences have been tucked away or never spoken about before. Therapy can feel like a big step, and it is. A good one, and although the idea of it maybe scary, we can do this together, at your pace, with you at the helm.

My style is gently curious and reflective and I often take an interest in thoughts, feelings, dreams, metaphors, and ideas that may lead to the problems bringing you to read this today. I see the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration, a creative process of making sense of things that have been troubling you. By doing this together we can aim to improve life, reduce stress or anxiety and help you feel less burdened, lost or low.

Practice description

Welcome to my psychotherapy practice. I offer a confidential, compassionate, and reflective space where you can talk openly—perhaps for the first time—about thoughts and feelings that may have been difficult to express elsewhere.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, my approach focuses on helping you explore themes in your current life that may link to past unresolved matters. Matters impairing the life you want to life now. By exploring patterns in your life, how you feel about things, i.e. your work or relationships etc, together we can gain a deeper understanding of what’s affecting the quality of now.

Clients often come to therapy with feelings of anxiety, low self-worth, sadness, loss, or uncertainty. You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis or clear explanation—only the sense that something isn’t quite right, and a willingness to explore.

What You Can Expect from Me

When coming to therapy with me you can expect a calm, respectful and non-judgemental environment. I will listen with empathy, care and curiosity to help us understand better what is going on. My style is thoughtful and attentive—I don’t offer quick fixes or advice, but I do guarantee supporting you in developing insight, self-awareness, and emotional resilience. Over time, therapy can help you feel more at home in yourself, improve relationships, and live with greater clarity and confidence.

My first session

The first session is a gentle introduction to the therapy process. It's an opportunity for you to share what has brought you to seek support and to explore whether working together feels like a good fit. You don’t need to prepare anything in particular—just come as you are.

We may talk about what’s been troubling you, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any previous experiences you've had with counselling. I’ll also explain how I work and answer any questions you might have.

There’s no pressure to share everything straight away. The first session is as much about helping you feel safe and understood as it is about gathering information. By the end, we can decide together whether to continue with regular sessions.
