About me and my therapy practice
Discover a path to personal growth and well-being with compassionate and integrative psychotherapy. I am an integrative psychotherapist offering both short- and long-term therapy for adults. You can meet with me in person in Brighton & Hove or connect remotely via telephone and video, no matter where you are in the world. I work with private clients, Employee Assistance Programmes, and individuals referred by the Victim Support Unit of the East Sussex Police Service.
I support people with a variety of concerns, including:
• Therapy for men
• Relationship therapy
• Bereavement
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Anger management
• Low self-esteem
• Personal development
Experiencing these issues can be challenging, and seeking help from a therapist is a great way to explore and address these difficulties. My approach aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can discuss your concerns, gain insight, and work towards personal growth. Through exploration and reflection, we can examine your background, address unresolved experiences, establish healthier boundaries, and consider your future goals.
My experience across different industries has given me a deep understanding of workplace pressures. I see therapy as a valuable resource for managing emotions, gaining self-understanding, and pursuing overall well-being.
Practice description
Embarking on a journey of self-discovery and growth, our therapy sessions begin with an initial assessment to clarify and identify your goals from our work together. Once we establish these objectives, we will delve into your personal history, focusing on how past experiences may have shaped your self-perception, interpersonal interactions, and decision-making processes.
Achieving sustained, meaningful change requires your engagement and commitment, which often includes activities outside of our scheduled sessions. I regularly recommend supplemental reading to further explore topics discussed during therapy and encourage you to maintain a journal throughout our work together. Journaling is a valuable tool that fosters deeper insight, promotes understanding, and enables ongoing reflection on session content and daily experiences.
As you develop the ability to process and evaluate your emotions, you will gain increased awareness of the factors influencing your behaviour, thereby facilitating the adoption of healthier choices. Ultimately, the therapeutic process aims to help you internalise these skills, empowering you to become your own therapist. When you have sufficiently developed this capacity, formal therapy may conclude.
My first session
Our first session will be a chance for me to get to know you and understand your reasons for seeking therapy. This helps us both decide if we're a good fit to work together. If I feel your needs are outside my expertise, I'll refer you to someone who can better assist you.
If we decide to continue, I suggest we start with twelve weekly sessions and then review your progress. We'll keep working together as long as you find it helpful. While weekly sessions are usually the most effective, I'm flexible and can adjust the schedule to suit your needs.
