About me and my therapy practice
Do you consistently feel "not good enough"? You might be your own worst critic, struggle with self-doubt or find yourself putting yourself last. This can feel exhausting and lonely. I offer a supportive space where you can explore where these feelings come from and begin to relate to yourself differently, with compassion. Together, we’ll work towards helping you feel more confident, self-accepting, and comfortable being who you are. My hope is that therapy helps you experience a greater sense of self-worth, ease, and freedom in your life and relationships.
I am an integrative therapist based in the Highlands. Originally from Illinois, USA, I started my training in clinical-counselling psychology 20 years ago. Since then I have worked supporting families going through separation and divorce, advocating for children and young people's voices and guiding clients through emotional pain towards healing in a way that doesn't focus on labels, instead highlighting your strengths and resources.
Change is an inevitable part of living, and the impact on us can be huge, whether it is becoming a parent, going through menopause or coming to terms with a bereavement. Understanding change within the stages and transitions of life is an important part of the way I work to better support you with what's going on in the present.
Practice description
Therapy has to feel right and be a good fit for you and your needs. It is within a supportive, empathic relationship that there is opportunity for growth. Through looking at difficulties in a supportive, nurturing space, you can start to view things in a different way, one that highlights your strengths and ways forward.
I work in a collaborative way that empowers you to work on what is important for you. I will offer reflections, invitations and at time, challenge, that may lead to greater insight and clarity. I offer a systemic approach that helps you see yourself in relation to a wider context, whether this is your family, social network or community.
Sessions are 60 minutes long can be scheduled on a flexible basis that might be weekly or fortnightly.
My first session
We will start with a free, initial 15 minute chat either by phone or video to look at what's bringing you to therapy. Together we can discuss if working together feels like a good fit. From there, we'll arrange our first session, where we will be able to explore your concerns in more depth. I will ask about different areas of your life to understand more holistically what's going on and think about how best to support you.
