About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Dee Critoph

Would you like a Compassionate, Safe Space to Speak Freely &        Explore Whatever is on 'Your Mind'?

I have worked with a diverse range of people struggling with a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, feelings of sadness, loneliness and emptiness, low self-esteem and confidence, destructive behaviour, feelings of guilt & shame, and difficulties in relating to self and others.

In addition, I have vast experience working with:

  • Trauma
  • ADHD
  • Mind-Body connection

I’m an experienced and registered Psychotherapist and a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Professional (ADHD-CCSP).

I understand life can feel overwhelming at times. You may be struggling with distressing thoughts or emotions — feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, lonely, isolated, or stuck — as though life has closed in and you’re unsure how to move forward.

Maybe you'd like to find or reconnect with a sense of direction, purpose and meaning in your life.

Or you may be looking to start therapy to get to know or understand yourself better — to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply, or to approach your relationship with yourself and others with greater curiosity and interest.

Whether you want to explore past or present experiences, relationships, dreams, fears, concerns, feelings, or thoughts — or anything else on your mind — it’s all welcome.

I offer a compassionate, safe, confidential space where you’re welcome to express yourself and speak openly, and I’ll listen without judgement.

I feel I am most effective when I can help others to speak freely, listen to themselves, and discover their own inner truths through the therapeutic process.

Training & Qualifications

After a career in social care, I went on to train as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist at the Manor House Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I completed a rigorous British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) accredited training, gaining experience through seminars and clinical practice.

Additionally, I have undertaken COFRA 121 - StopSo training, a therapeutic programme to help people manage sexual risk and to live more pro-social, satisfying lives.

With the Tavistock & Portman, I attended a year-long course looking at psychoanalytic ideas on violence, criminality and sexual deviation.

University of Derby: Autism, Asperger's and ADHD - Recognised and Endorsed by the ADHD Foundation.

I am a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Professional (ADHD-CCSP)

I have completed a two-year-long Infant Observation, a Psychiatric Placement and have embarked on further Psychoanalytic training with the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF).

My first session

The first step: What can I expect?

It's completely natural to feel apprehensive and anxious when seeking therapy; it can be daunting, but it is the first step.

Please contact me by phone or email, and we can discuss and arrange a mutually convenient time for an initial consultation to discuss what's troubling you now and the wider picture of your life.

The introductory session would also give you an idea of what it is like to be with me as a therapist. It carries no obligation to commit; deciding the best therapy for you will require some thought, and the first meeting can help us with that.

The fee for this initial session is £85. Occasionally, a second consultation may be necessary. If we decide to meet on an ongoing basis, we will discuss the ongoing fee and logistics.

Ongoing sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held at the same time and day, at a minimum frequency of once a week.
