About me and my therapy practice
I am an accredited and experienced integrative person centred therapeutic counsellor. I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you are free to talk and assured that you will be listened to. I believe in the importance of making you feel comfortable and respected, and my commitment is to support you throughout your therapeutic journey. I recognise each individual is unique, therefore, I tailor every session to meet your specific needs. This personalised approach is designed to help you develop stronger and more positive internal resources, empowering you to pursue a more fulfilling life.
Within my work, I will work with you to develop a deeper understanding of self, support you or your child to implement practical techniques to manage daily life, and discover ways to improve your overall quality of life, emotional wellbeing, mental health, confidence, and self-esteem.
I have experience working with children, young people, and adults within charitable organisations, educational environments, the NHS and mental health organisations such as the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
I am also experienced working therapeutically with neurodivergent children, young people and adults. I understand that every autistic individual and every person with ADHD is unique. Therefore, I ensure that the therapy is tailored specifically to you and your individual needs. My training as an ADHD coach also allows me to draw upon coaching strategies to further tailor support.
I have experience of working with individuals who experience difficulties with communication, relationships, emotions, sensory processing, and executive functioning. As well as difficulties and challenges in attention, completing tasks, managing emotions, impulse control, and social situations such as RSD. My ADHD coach training enables me to use targeted strategies to support these needs.
Practice description
I adopt an integrative approach in my therapeutic work, drawing upon my academic background in psychology and my training in person-centred therapy, and a I draw upon of other methodologies which include the psychodynamic approach, attachment theories, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This approach enables me to tailor my practice to the unique needs of each individual I support.
I will always work at a pace that suits you, focusing on the concerns you wish to bring to each session. The direction and content of our sessions will be shaped by what you feel comfortable discussing and prioritising.
When working with children and young people, I use a variety of engaging methods tailored to each individual. These may include play, arts and crafts, sensory play, worksheets, and talking therapy. During the assessment session, we will discuss the child or young person's preferred activities and any special interests. This helps ensure that sessions are personalised, making it easier for each child or young person to feel comfortable and engaged.
If a child, young person, or adult feels anxious about attending sessions, we can work together to find ways to reduce anxiety related to engagement. The aim is to break down any barriers or difficulties that may hinder your involvement in therapy, helping you to feel more at ease as we work together.
My first session
Your initial session will primarily focus on assessment. During this meeting, I will gather more detailed information about you, which will help us to identify your goals for therapy.
