About me and my therapy practice

At the heart of my work is respect. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk things through, be heard and understood, and begin to understand yourself more clearly. I believe the counselling process evolves with the client, at their pace and in the direction they need.

Through us working together in regular 1-1 sessions you will be able to explore your difficulties and painful issues and bring a peace to your life. Haworth is surrounded by beautiful countryside and, if you enjoy being in nature, we can have walk and talk sessions. The gentle rhythm of walking can help to reduce anxiety.

Practice description

I became a fully qualified counsellor in 2005, training in the person-centred, relational approach. Respect, empathy and genuineness are central to the way I work, so you lead the way as the counselling process evolves with you.

I have worked in a variety of settings, including higher and further education, charities, and industrial organisations. Through this, I have provided a safe therapeutic space for people from a wide range of different backgrounds with a variety of different challenges.

I offer face-to-face or online therapy, and walk and talk.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute initial session to give you the opportunity to meet me, get a feel for how I work, and decide whether you'd like to continue. I’ll outline how we’ll work together, so we start with a clear, shared understanding.

If you choose to go ahead, at the beginning of our first full session, we'll take a few moments to complete some brief admin, including gathering your contact details. It will then be your time to say what you need to and begin to be supported on your journey.

About me and my therapy practice

I qualified as a person-centred counsellor over twenty years ago, training in the relational approach which places great emphasis on respect, empathy and genuineness. I have worked as a counsellor in educational settings, charities and corporate settings.

Initially studying Psychology at University, I have always been interested in people and what makes us the way we are. Counselling training helped me to further develop my understanding and to use it to help others to understand themselves. With this insight and knowledge, it then becomes possible to address difficult and painful issues and find comfort within ourselves and our lives.

You and I working together in regular 1-1 sessions will allow you to explore your difficulties and painful issues and bring a peace to your life. Bingley Counselling Centre is next to a beautiful riverside walk, if you enjoy being in nature we can have walk and talk sessions. The gentle rhythm of walking can help to reduce anxiety.
