About me and my therapy practice

Hello,

I offer a secure, supportive, non-judgmental space where issues can be explored in your own time. I am there to work with you to look at what you think is best for you, I will not offer advice or tell you what to do. I will walk alongside you offering support, encouragement, empathy, guidance and gentle challenging.

I work in an integrative way, using different counselling theories. The theories I practice are:-

Person-centred - offering you acceptance, empathy and working alongside you to look at your core conditions and self worth

Cognitive behavioural - that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave

Psychodynamic - exploring how your unconscious thoughts affect your current behaviour

Existentialism - exploring meaning through a philosophical perspective

If you are happy to you will also have the opportunity to explore feelings through the use of visual exercises, mood cards, stones, etc.

I previously worked for The Bariatric Consultancy and delivered 10-week intensive one to one CBT counselling. This counselling focused on addressing people's relationship to food and developing new coping strategies. The aim of these sessions were to help people to better understand their triggers to disordered eating and to explore alternative strategies when they are dealing with life events and trauma. I also set goals to improve self-esteem and improve eating behaviours and helped people to think positively about themselves and help them implement change.

I previously also volunteered at St. Christopher's Hospice, one-to-one bereavement support which provided people with a space to talk about the consequences of their loss and how they were grieving.

I also have extensive experience of working with people from the emergency services such as the Metropolitan Police Service and front line staff in the NHS such as Paramedics, Call Handlers and other frontline staff.

I also work for Bupa and Axa Health.
