About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to The Therapy Shed®
If you have found your way here, you might be feeling overwhelmed, lost or stuck in repetitive patterns. I provide a safe, grounded space to help you find your way forward. Whether we meet face to face or online via Zoom, my goal is to help you understand your thoughts and feelings so you can build a more secure connection with yourself and others.
Individual support?
Many people come to see me when they feel they can no longer talk to friends or family either because they can't, feel a burden or a sense of shame. So you might be experiencing:
· A harsh, self-critical inner voice or low self-esteem.
· Feelings of anxiety, rage, or deep sadness that are hard to manage.
· Strained relationships or difficulty expressing your own needs.
· The painful impact of bereavement, loss, or past trauma.
Together we look at the root causes of these feelings. By understanding how your past experiences shape your present, we can work together to make those big emotions more manageable. Ultimately, you grow in self-awareness, allowing you to establish healthy boundaries and make more empowered decisions for your life.
Couples therapy or relationship support?
Relationships are essential to our well-being, but they can also be complex and challenging. I provide specialist couples therapy for romantic partners, alongside relationship support for any two people, including siblings or adult family members, who are looking to navigate conflict and rediscover their bond.
I can help you explore:
· Breakdowns in communication or recurring conflict.
· The impact of betrayal or a rupture in trust.
· Difficulty feeling close or intimate with one another.
· Learning how to show up authentically without deepening disconnection.
In couples therapy, I create a secure environment where both of you feel heard and valued. We focus on practical ways to communicate more effectively and resolve conflict healthily, with the aim of fostering a more resilient and fulfilling relationship.
Practice description
Counselling is a form of talking therapy in which a trained therapist works alongside you to help you gain insight and discover your own ways forward. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, a counsellor supports you in exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences, so that meaningful change can emerge from within.
This is your time to reflect on what may be keeping you stuck and to begin moving forward at your own pace. In the busyness of everyday life, we often have little opportunity to pause or process what we are carrying. We may be balancing demanding work, family responsibilities, or personal challenges, or we may simply find it too difficult to face certain issues alone. Counselling offers a dedicated, uninterrupted space where you can focus on yourself, supported by a trained professional. It is a valuable act of self-care.
If you are considering counselling, it is natural to feel anxious about opening up to someone you do not know yet. Taking this step can feel significant, particularly if you have not had counselling before. Alongside choosing a counsellor with appropriate qualifications, it is important that you feel comfortabl, safe and able to build a trusting relationship with them.
My core training is to Foundation Degree Level and is considered integrative, which means I have studied a variety of counselling theories, psychology and science based modules.
I work with bereavement, attachment/relationship difficulties, with people who feel lost, anxiety, depression, anger and rage. I work with counselling students and couples. Other courses include: Internal Family Systems (Informed), bereavement training, Transactional Analysis Post Graduate Course in Compassionate Inquiry Approach (Gabor Mate). Trauma trained to the New Havens Competencies, Level 5 qualification in Attachment Based Psychotherapy, CORST Accredited Level 5 in Couples/Relationship Therapy.
My first session
Our first session will be sligthly different than subseqent sessions. I will take information which enables me to work ethically and safely with you and it is a time for you to ask any questions of me and for us to establish a way of working together.
It is normal to feel anxious about beginning counselling, however, clients report that they quickly feel at ease with me and the way that I work, valuing the open dialogue, the compassion and knowledge.
