About me and my therapy practice
Are you looking for change, seeking to process past experiences, or hoping to grow personally? Perhaps you're facing a crisis and in need of support. Whether you're trying to move forward, build self-esteem or live more freely, I offer both in-person and remote support, providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your concerns without criticism, rejection, or blame.
With a decade of clinical practice, my trauma-informed approach is tailored to meet each person’s unique needs, ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment for all.
Issues I can help with include:
• Anxiety & Depression
• Low Self-Esteem
• Bereavement & Loss
• OCD
• Relationship Issues (including same-sex and non-monogamous relationships)
• Chronic Illness
• Historical & Recent Sexual Abuse
I have extensive experience in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and neurodiverse individuals.
Practice description
I hold a Masters in Philosophy from Cambridge University which fuelled my interest in our theoretical understanding of the mind and its connection to the body. My clinical approach is integrative, blending psychodynamic theory -meaning that we will explore how past experiences and unconscious thoughts influence our current behaviour and relationships - and person centred therapy which involves creating a safe, non-judgemental environment which supports meaningful and lasting change.
I work via regular weekly sessions on an open-ended basis. In person sessions take place in peaceful, private rooms in the heart of Headington. They are easily accessible, with frequent bus services from the city centre and convenient nearby parking. I also offer online sessions via telephone or zoom.
My first session
We begin with an initial consultation which is a chance for us to explore whether I am the right therapist for you. I’ll listen to your concerns, and you’ll have the opportunity to understand my approach and whether we’re a good fit to work together. I also offer a free 15 minute phone call to answer any particular queries or concerns.
If you're interested in booking a session or have any questions, please reach out kathwestcounselling@gmail.com or call 07895 488342
