About me and my therapy practice
I aim to offer a safe and understanding space for people to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I believe the support of others helps us to face challenges in our lives and I hope to lend my support to build up resilience and strength in those I meet with.
I offer an open and non-judgemental approach to problem solving and exploration of past and present emotional pain. No subject is off limits, but I commonly deal with the issues listed below:
Depression
Anxiety & Stress
Trauma & Abuse
Relationship issues
Body confidence & Sexuality
Bereavement & Loss
I respect the life choices of others and value their differing spiritual beliefs, sexual preferences, political opinions and cultural backgrounds. I am passionate about offering a safe and non-judgmental space, which affirms our diversity.
Practice description
I am happy to work with people on a short-term solution focused approach or longer term person-centred therapy. With both approaches, sessions are 60 minutes and we generally meet weekly at the same time each week.
I want counselling to be accessible and affordable for everyone, so fees operate on a sliding scale based on personal income (starting at £40 per hour). The first session is a free initial consultation to see if I am the right fit for you. I can also provide Skype sessions for those unable to attend sessions in person.
I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling (CPCAB accredited course) and have since had further training in Sex Therapy, Working with Children, Attachment and Difference & Diversity.
I have worked as a counsellor for Off The Record, Place2Be, Oasis College Kennington and the Earls Court Community Project, as well my own private practice based in central Bristol (BS5).
My approach is Integrative, which means I draw from the therapeutic models that most suit those I am working with. This can range from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-centred Therapy, Play Therapy and Mindfulness techniques.
