About me and my therapy practice

A Warm Welcome

I know that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting and you have taken that first step, Something I have also done so can understand some of the difficulties around this. You may be struggling and with the prospect of having counselling, I was too, some people may also feel ashamed as talking about difficulties isn't the done thing. I want you to know having counselling has turned out to be one of the best things I have ever done.

I believe the heart of counselling is the relationship we build together. When you feel truly heard, not judged and understood, this takes time to develop and trust needs to be at the heart of it. Once a trusting relationship is developed this will enable you to bring into the sessions whatever it is that is troubling you and it becomes easier to make sense of what’s going on and to find new ways forward to enable you to start living the life that you want to and help you to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor, Counselling Trainer and Clinical Supervisor with 19 years of experience working with Adults, Children and Young people.

I have been trained in different counselling theories which means I can draw from a range of Therapeutic techniques that are personalised to you and enable you  to best meet your desired outcome and live the life that you want to live.

Practice description

People come into counselling for many reasons, some have experienced the most awful situations, in their past or present. Such as abusive relationships, losses of loved ones, traumatic experiences and all kinds of hardships. Or you may be in the midst of a life changing crisis feeling stuck with no where to turn. Let's face it life can be bloody difficult and hard.

You may find yourself constantly pleasing other people, struggling to say no. Or feeling stressed, depressed, anxious, struggling to cope and like you are always in the middle of relationship disagreements and feeling like things are your fault.

I specialise in Anxiety - Depression - Low Self Esteem - Trauma - Relationship and family issues - Bereavement - Sexual Abuse

You may be self harming, or having thoughts of suicide feeling isolated and alone. So many people do, you are not alone but this can feel overwhelming and deeply distressing.

Whatever you decide to bring into your counselling I want you to know I won't give you advice but I commit to will working very hard to help you make sense of, understand and support you to work through the difficulties that have led you here. With the aim to enable you to make the changes and achieve the goals and outcomes that you have set for yourself.

There may be times that you don't want to come because of the emotions that you might be feeling or you may be struggling to talk about the things that are upsetting or distressing you. I want you to know that I will be patient, respectful and will not apply any pressure to get you talk about things before you are ready to do so. I want you to feel safe and supported.

My aim is to provide a respectful private and confidential, supportive, environment where you’ll be listened to. I feel that in order for counselling to be successful we need to have developed a trusting relationship where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences when the time is right time for you.

My first session

Our first meeting is simply a conversation. You’ll have the chance to share what’s brought you here, and I’ll do my best to answer any questions. It’s also a time for you to decide whether I’m the right person to support you.

Who I Support

I offer both short and long term contracts.

A typical short term contract might be 6 to 12 sessions.

A long term contract could be a a number of months or years.

I deliver Face-to-face counselling for adults, children, and young people. Or nationwide remotely online via Zoom for Adults and young people.

Whatever stage of life you’re in, you don’t have to go through things alone—support is here when you’re ready.

My Aim

My role is to work alongside you for as long as you need, supporting you to develop tools and insights you can carry into everyday life—so that, in time, counselling is no longer needed and you can start living the life that you want too.

If you would like to make an appointment for an initial consultation I am contactable to answer any questions that you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope to meet you.
