About me and my therapy practice
My approach to counselling is person centred and I鈥檓 trained integrally so will use different methods and techniques depending upon the individual client and what they bring to the session to work through. The counselling room is only a couple of minutes walk from Chelmsford Railway Station and only 5 minutes from the town centre. There is parking available in the surrounding roads, free after 6pm and a car park 1 minute walk from the location only 拢1 after 5pm. Both daytime and evening sessions are available.
Practice description
I am an Integral Therapist with a client led approach valuing the therapeutic relationship as paramount to the process. My integral approach enables me to use a variety of theoretical concepts and interventions that fit your needs as the client. I consider the thinking, feeling and behavioural dimensions of your experience. I will help you to work out what is not working in your life at this present time and what you need in order to heal, grow and cope more effectively. I will challenge you to think about decisions and help you draw attention to your own internal dialogue or 鈥渟elf-talk鈥, the assumptions you make about yourself which may be based on the past but may not serve a purpose in the present.
For some counselling can be a difficult and painful experience. It is important to work together towards a mutually satisfactory appropriate time to end your counselling rather than end abruptly. My role is to provide a safe, confidential space for you to talk to me and explore your thoughts and feelings, clarify your problems and thereby find solutions for change and/or personal growth. I will not tell you what to do but will help you to discover options and empower you to make changes.
My first session
The first session can often feel overwhelming and daunting. I aim to make the first session a time to simply meet each other, I will ask some questions to help guide and relax you so you feel comfortable enough to talk about what brings you to counselling at this specific time in your life.
The first session will hopefully provide you with a feeling about whether I鈥檓 the right counsellor for you and will give us a clear direction of what we will be working through together and what approach to take.
Everybody鈥檚 situation is individual to them so I aim to work flexibly to meet your needs. If you choose to continue having sessions they can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
