There are cats at the property so if you are allergic to cats, this may be a problem for you.
About me and my therapy practice
Life can often get complicated or feel more challenging at times and having an opportunity to talk in a confidential and accepting environment can help you to find resolution. I can help and support you with a wide range of issues such as loss, relationships, self-esteem, personal development, depression, stress and anxiety. I also have experience in working with developmental and relational trauma and PTSD.
Having qualified in 2003, I am an experienced therapist working with adults in the Salisbury area and across the UK online. I offer both short term counselling and longer term/open ended therapy adjusting to your needs and preferences. The therapeutic relationship is key to your outcome and the work that we will do together aims to develop personal awareness, effect healing and to enable healthy change in your life.
Previously I worked for Action on Addiction (originally Clouds), for 15 years, providing therapeutic programmes to families and individuals affected by addiction. I also have prior experience working with children and young people and also with couples and families.
I also train new counsellors with Redlands Counselling up to Level 5, which continues to inform my work with clients and supervisees.
Practice description
The Relationship is at the heart of the therapeutic process. This is the space where change emerges.
I work trauma informed, understanding the role of our nervous systems plays in safety and how this informs our lives at a deeply implicit level. I am interested in the mind and body connection and how learning to hear our internal voices can lead to deeper self connection and healing. My most recent additional training has been a four month course, Frank Anderson's Internal Family Systems Trauma Training, which has enriched and developed my practice.
My approach has been influenced by a range of models of counselling. I began from a psychodynamic base, which seeks to explore the influence of early experience on present day life. Additional training in Attachment Theory (an understanding of early development), Family Systemic Theory (how we adapt and change to the environments we live in) and Transactional Analysis (exploring the dynamics between people).
My first session
My initial session is a little different, and it will be the only occasion that I have paper with me to make notes. This session is designed to gain an understanding of what you need from the therapeutic process. It also enables us to get a feeling of how we might work together.

About me and my therapy practice
"The sense of Supervision as being an oasis or a fireside, a place where a weary traveller can take some respite and nourishment to continue his or her professional journey." (Hewson J, 2008)
At the roots of my work as a therapist, tutor and supervisor, is the relationship. The relationship as the fundamental vehicle for change both professionally and personally. I see supervision as a time and space to explore the landscape of the work and the humans within that landscape. Theory provides a map to navigate by, ethics provide us the boundaries to maintain safe experiences for clients, supervisees and supervisors.
I obtained my Supervision Diploma through The Iron Mill College.
As a therapist my theoretical underpinnings are as a Humanistic Integrative practitioner, incorporating Psychodynamic, TA, Gestalt, Attachment and Systemic Theories. I am trauma informed and have additional training in IFS and Body Listening.
I worked as part of the Clouds / Action on Addiction Families team for 15 years, developing and facilitating a range of programmes, including the M-PACT programme ( for families affected by parental substance use) and the residential Family Programme. I have been teaching with Redlands Counselling since 2017, training new counsellors at L4 and L5. I love seeing my students blossom, growing in confidence and skill.
Practice description
My aim is to come alongside my supervisees with curiosity, empathy, new perspectives and challenge. I see supervision as a process by which to empower my supervisees in their own development and exploration.
We will explore a range of perspectives centered around your client work and aim to explore at depth your process within your work. Being curious around transference and countertransference. Recognising your strengths and supporting you in the areas you wish to grow.

When we meet for the first session it is an opportunity for us each to explore if the relationship feels like a good match.
