About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Rachel. I’m a practitioner who likes to be led by you on what you want to focus on in sessions and work alongside you to reach your goals.

I’ve been a qualified counsellor since 2015 and Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited since 2021.

I am a person led counsellor, meaning I work in a way that is suited to you and your needs. I use a range of theories to support my practice including creative methods, Transactional analysis, solution focused therapy, person centred counselling, aspects of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), attachment theory, Motivational Interviewing, and Socratic Questioning.

Counselling can be a space for you to share your story, explore what has contributed to your difficulties, share what has happened to you in the time between sessions, set goals together to work towards, and find coping strategies that work for you.

I am AuDHD and can adapt my work to support your neurodivergence too.

Counselling

My specialism is providing counselling for eating distress, eating disorders, and body image after working for 6 years in this field.

My work is person centred so we will work together on what you would like to focus on in sessions. I will explore with you what lies underneath the eating distress – what has led to it and what keeps it going. I help you work towards freedom from things like food noise, body checking, overexercise, and low self-esteem. If you’d just like to work on recognising your triggers and explore alternative strategies then this is ok too!

I also have experience in providing counselling to young people and for other mental health difficulties. I will work with you to find the best way of working for you and explore how you'd like to feel by the end of therapy to focus our work.

EMDR

I am currently only trained to work with people aged 18 and over with EMDR.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing and is an evidence-based psychotherapy. EMDR helps people to process traumatic and difficult memories that have become stuck and have contributed to symptoms such as anxiety and panic, low mood, flashbacks, and nightmares. It is known to be effective for trauma; however in practice it has been found to help people with a range of difficulties.

EMDR can be a standalone therapy or used during counselling if appropriate.

For counselling and EMDR, I offer a 20 minute free consultation call to meet me, see how I work and see if you feel comfortable working with me.

My fees are:

Assessment appointments are £65 for an hour. This covers the appointment and administration work following the assessment.

Counselling: Â£60 for 50 minutes.

EMDR: £80 for a 90 minute session. It is recommended that EMDR sessions are longer to support the processing. However, I can offer a 60 minute EMDR session if that works better for you at £65.

Sessions can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the appointment. Any cancellations after this, the full fee must be paid.

My first session

In the first session, I will do an assessment to find out what has led you to seek out therapy, your expectations and goals, previous experience of therapy if any, and explore together what the best way of working will be. It is a chance for us to meet each other and to see if you would be comfortable working with me.

I charge £65 an hour for assessments to cover administration work too.

About me and my therapy practice

I am person centred in my approach as a supervisor and am guided by what you need, based on your experience and theoretical models.

I specialise in supervising counselling work in the eating distress and eating disorders field. I worked for over 6 years at an eating distress charity, of which nearly 3 years included providing support and case management to staff, hosting peer supervision and supervising trainees on placement.

I also hold the Master Practitioner Award in eating disorders and obesity from the National Centre for Eating Disorders.

I can offer adhoc supervision i.e. a one-off supervision or a couple of sessions to provide support and knowledge if you are new to working with eating disorders and would like some specialist support alongside your current supervision.

I can also supervise work in other areas of mental health such as children and young people, bereavement, anxiety, domestic and sexual abuse, and self-harm.

Practice description

I have a lot of knowledge in safeguarding and was designated safeguarding lead for 2.5 years at an eating distress charity.

I was trained by Jenny Biancardi, looking at the creative supervisor model alongside others such as the seven-eyed and cyclical models.

I offer both individual and group supervision. I work with both qualified and trainee counsellors. I may also supervise other mental health workers – please get in touch for an initial call. I cannot supervise EMDR practitioners as I am not an EMDR consultant.

I offer a 20 minute free consultation call to meet me, see how I work and see if we will be a good fit as supervisor and supervisee.

- £80 1.5 hour

- For trainees, I charge £50 an hour and £65 for 1.5 hour
