About me and my therapy practice

I like to work as creative and engaging psychotherapist who has been working with adults, children, families and groups for over 20 years. I enjoy working in an integrative way; a way that I strongly believes allows me to be flexible in her approach and best meet the needs of my clients. I obtained my Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2003 and is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´). And a member of EMDR UK. I am able to work with all age groups.

I have a vast experience of working with children and adults who have experienced trauma and developmental trauma. Most recently I have been working as a senior therapist in Beacon House Trauma service.  As a psychotherapist I have worked in and consulted in therapeutic residential children’s homes, within domestic abuse recovery projects, as a school’s counsellor in primary and senior settings, as part local authority fostering, adoption and post order teams as well as in private practice.

I have experience in working with bereavement and traumatic death, having worked with Winston’s Wish for 5 years, a children’s bereavement support service. I have experience designing and delivering bereavement training to schools and other professionals. Emma offers supervision to professionals.

I have training in Attachment Focused Family Therapy and have completed DDP Levels 1 and 2 training. I am a qualified EMDR practitioner having completed the EMDR Europe Standard Training and Level 1 & 2 Child & Adolescent EMDR Training. I have also completed Integrated EMDR and IFS Model Level 1.

I am registered with Â鶹ԭ´´, her membership number is 00578787 and also EMDR UK membership number 173528.

Practice description

Integrative Psychotherapy

I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapist in 2003. I am able to work in a way that blends many ‘modalities’ to meet the therapeutic needs of my clients. In addition to my core training I hold full qualifications in Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, EMDR Standard Protocol( Adults) and EMDR Children & Adolescents. My work is also IFS (internal family systems) informed in my approach. That’s all the ‘therapeutic terms’, essentially I place a lot of value in the collaborative ‘therapeutic relationship’ between client and therapist.

EMDR

I am a certified EMDR practitioner. EMDR stands for eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing and is an evidenced-based, structured therapy which helps to process traumatic and/or disturbing memories that can show up consciously or unconsciously and can get in the way of us living our fullest lives.

Supervision

I enjoy providing trauma-informed supervision. I believe it is vital to have a contained, consistent, regular and reflective space, particularly when working within complex contexts and clients who may have complex therapeutic needs. When working with trauma we all have our own triggers and part which can be activated within our work. Supervision with me will value reflection, well-being and self-care. With clients I work relationally and I value this in supervision.

Parent/network consultations. Therapeutic parenting sessions.

Parents and networks around children and young people are often their greatest asset.

Consultations many include therapeutic parenting support.

Consultations to educators and professionals around a child or young person.

My first session

I provide an initial consultation during which I can listen to what is going on for you. I can explain how therapy works and answer any questions you might have. It is a chance for you to get to know me, and me to get to know you and how I can help.

The relationship is vitally important in therapy, for this reason the initial consultation is at a reduced fee of £40. This can be arranged by video call or phone. If it feels like we are a good therapeutic match we will set some goals together for the outcomes you would like to see.
