About me and my therapy practice
Psy.D., M.Ed. (Psych.) Hons., M.A. C.Psych.
I work with individuals and couples experiencing relationship issues and associated difficulties, such as affairs, deception and betrayal; addiction and excessive drinking; parenting struggles or domestic violence, narcissistic abuse and codependency. I am an approachable, caring and diligent psychologist and psychotherapist with over 30 years’ experience. I bring a powerful mix of counselling, clinical and systemic psychology to my work, and have a strong track record of success in mediating conflict, overcoming obstacles and finding new ways forward. I also have a deep understanding of the link between successful intervention in relationship breakdown and suicide prevention, and I am a clinical supervisor in this area.
I am grounded and genuine, and I pay my experience forward by lecturing and presenting internationally in collaboration with the American Counseling Association, British Psychological Society, Australian Counselling Association and the Australian Association of Psychotherapy.
My background is broad, and I have access to a flexible therapeutic toolkit which includes CBT, psychoanalysis, psychodynamic and Jungian methods, Gestalt and logotherapy. Despite holding multiple academic degrees, I have learned so much more from those who have worked with me and shared their coping mechanisms and life situations.
I have written several well-received books including: Narcissism & Codependency, Learning how to Leave, Weathering Relationships and Raw Facts from Real Parents.
I am also honoured to be a regular voice in the media.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: everyone deserves access to honest and effective support for their mental health and general life struggles. I’m committed to raising awareness, breaking stigma and helping people navigate life’s toughest moments with strength and dignity. Email: MichaelEnq@mpamind.com
