About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative psychotherapist drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural techniques and have over 24 years of experience working with people to make change in their lives.  I support people with a range of issues including: depression, grief, relationship issues, life changes, anxiety and stress.  I work with you to explore how past experiences impact the present, which provides insight to take forward in your life.  I provide a confidential, non-judgmental safe space for you to identify, work through and process the emotions and thoughts you may be experiencing. I aim to foster personal growth and emotional well-being. I work with you collaboratively to blend various therapeutic approaches to meet your unique needs, providing a personalised experience aligned with your therapeutic goals.

I also offer Dynamic Interpersonal therapy (DIT) and am a DIT Supervisor working with trainee DIT Supervisors.

DIT is a brief psychodynamic model which means that you will be able to explore current and past relationships, experiences and feelings, in a safe and containing environment. In this way we will allow unconscious material, memories and traumas, to emerge in a safe setting where they can be thought about together and then processed.

Practice description

I offer therapy online via video and telephone appointments.  I also have a few spaces for longer-term face-to-face sessions from my practice in Southbourne, Bournemouth.

Concessionary rates are available for trainee counsellors and those on benefits.

My first session

The first session is an initial consultation that gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and to find out the best course of therapy for you. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your current situation and your background. We will also discuss practicalities of the sessions, such as length, fees and aim of therapy, as well as any questions you may have regarding how to proceed with your therapy.

Before this initial consultation, I am available for a free of charge (max 15 minutes) phone conversation about what I could offer to you. Please send me an email to arrange a mutually convenient time to speak and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

About me and my therapy practice

I have over 20 years of experience providing counselling supervision to trainee counsellors, experienced counsellors and more recently trainee DIT Therapists a trainee DIT Supervisor.

I have a BA (Hons) in Counselling and MSc in Counselling Supervision with Southampton University.

Practice description

As a registered member of the Â鶹ԭ´´, I adhere to its ethical framework and place your safety, autonomy, and well-being at the heart of our work together.

I am an integrative therapist, trained in the Clarksonian model. I aim to build a safe, respectful supervisory relationship where my supervisees feel that they can bring any areas of difficulty as well as areas to celebrate to a place where they feel contained and are able to develop.

I am an experienced practitioner and supervisor and have provided individual and group supervision within the NHS as well as my private practice.

I have supervised a diverse range of therapists from different theoretical orientations training to be DIT Therapists. Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy is a brief 16 session psychodynamic model aimed at treating recurrent depression and anxiety by understanding how their past relationships and experiences impact their present mood and behaviour.  It focuses on identifying a recurring pattern in relationships and how they might be linked to emotional difficulties.  I particularly enjoy seeing my trainees develop into competent practitioners as they grow through the training and supervision.
