My available hours are flexible. I can also offer appointments on Saturdays as I know that it can be difficult for children and young people to fit therapy sessions around a busy school day.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience working across state and private primary and secondary schools, as well as in a specialist adolescent mental health service.
I am deeply passionate about helping children and young people build a healthy relationship with themselves. I believe that many mental health challenges stem from self-criticism and inner conflict. My career has always been dedicated to young people—first as a university lecturer and now as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in warmth, unconditional acceptance, curiosity, and respect. I do not see therapy as something done to people; rather, I believe healing is a co-creative process where each individual is the expert on their own experience. The same principle guides my work with parents, honouring their expertise and agency.
I take a holistic approach to therapy, focusing not just on alleviating symptoms but on healing relational wounds and fostering understanding and meaning.
Practice description
My training is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, which explores how our early experiences and relationships shape the way we see ourselves and others. I find that bringing these patterns into awareness can create space for understanding, healing, and change.
Over the years, I’ve learned that no single approach fits everyone. Each child or young person brings their own story, pace, and way of experiencing the world. I draw on a range of approaches, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), both of which emphasise mindfulness, self-compassion, and living in alignment with what truly matters.
My work is also informed by neuroscience, attachment theory, and trauma awareness, helping me stay attuned to what each person’s nervous system might need in a given moment—whether that’s calm, connection, or reflection.
I take a neurodiversity-affirming stance, recognising and valuing different ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. My aim is to offer a space where every young person feels seen, respected, and supported in their individuality.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to warmth, curiosity, and compassion—meeting each person where they are and walking alongside them as they grow in self-understanding and confidence.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.
I have a MSc in psychodynamic psychotherapy for children and adolescents at Birkbeck, University of London, a Specialist Diploma in Neurodiversity-Informed Practice from The Greenane Centre and an Advanced Diploma in Professional Development: The Therapeutic Application of the Arts from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education & London Metropolitan University. I am fully insured, DBS-checked, and committed to regular supervision and ongoing professional development
