About me and my therapy practice
How I work and what happens next:
I offer an initial free consultation on the phone, where we can talk through what is concerning you. It might be something specific or a general feeling of depression, anxiety, or you might not know at this time.
If you decide to take this further, we would normally meet weekly on the same day, at the same time, for 50 minutes. The frame and boundaries of the session are respected at all times, and within this framework, I adapt to the needs of the individual. It might be that you will want to focus on past events, or for some, it might be immediate that you are seeking someone to talk with. The work can be on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period I will be guided by you and what your needs might be at the time.
Please contact me to discuss the fees, as this depends on your personal situation at the moment.
I am BUPA registered
Practice description
Hello thank you for looking at my profile. I work with individuals who may be struggling to understand why they feel the way they do. This can be confusing and distressing not only to the individual but also to their family and friends. You might wonder why you suffer in silence. You would like to bring about changes. I can help you think differently about yourself. How I work is to begin to listen to what might be troubling you at the moment and to help you put together some ideas and words to make sense of what is happening. You will need to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that the sessions are confidential, so we will make a contract reflecting what is important to you. I hope this will be a good start for you to explore what might be happening at the moment.
My first session
The first session would be for us to meet usually in person so that I can take some information on how you are at the moment, and important for you to think about how we might work together, this first step is difficult to negotiate as you might be feeling unsure about many things and if this is your first approach to finding a therapist you will be wondering if I am going to understand you.
You might wonder what you want to say, how to start. I can help you find some words to reflect your thinking; this is something we manage together I won't be asking you to fill out any forms or questionairs.
