About me and my therapy practice
I’m often described as a warm, empathic, and approachable counsellor who offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore whatever you are facing. I work primarily as a person-centred therapist, placing the focus on you, your experiences, and your sense of self.
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Adult Trauma, and my specialist area is supporting people who are adjusting to a potentially life-changing medical diagnosis. I understand how deeply this can affect your life, and I believe wholeheartedly that you are not your diagnosis.
I am also qualified in providing Pre-Trial Therapy for survivors of sexual assault, working in line with the appropriate legal and ethical guidelines to ensure safe and supportive practice.
Practice description
I offer a safe, confidential and non judgemental environment where clients are encouraged to explore their feelings. I support clients to recognise and sit with the hard stuff.
Perhaps you are a perfectionist or carry shame, perhaps you ruminate over the past and what the future will bring and this is having a detrimental impact on your quality of life. It could be that you have a general sense of unease or unhappiness that you can’t quite understand, I will sit with you to help you and reach your potential.
Alongside my experience of working with life changing health conditions and the hidden effects of these I also work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, rape, sexual assault and domestic violence.
As a counsellor I can help you to explore these feelings at your own pace and I feel my compassion, genuineness and warmth go a long way to building a positive rapport within the therapeutic relationship. It can be daunting talking to a stranger about your mental health however it can lead to a sense of ease, hope and acceptance.
Taking those first steps to therapy can feel difficult and finding the right counsellor can lead to clarity and a sense of peace.
