About me and my therapy practice
I'm Sharon Nicholson - Â鶹Դ´ Accredited Counsellor, Brainspotting Practitioner, and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Specialistâ„¢ with over 20 years of clinical experience.
Based in Weymouth, Dorset, I work exclusively online with clients across the UK.
I specialise in relational trauma - betrayal, narcissistic abuse, and the quiet, cumulative harm of relationships that slowly changed you. Many of the women I work with have been carrying something for a long time. They are functioning - often well - but something essential has gone quiet. They often feel lost, stuck in overthinking, like they've never quite felt enough.
This is specialist work. It goes further than talking, and it reaches the places that insight and understanding alone have often never quite touched.
🌿 "Sharon has been like a wonderful guide, helping to support me towards a better, happier life path — one I didn't know how to find fully for myself, because I had no reference points."
— Client experience
Practice description
How I Work
With over 20 years of clinical experience, including a decade in NHS talking therapies as a Senior Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor, specialising in Counselling for Depression, I have been in specialist private practice since 2007.
My primary approach is Brainspotting - a body-based therapy evolved from EMDR - that works directly with the nervous system.
Where talking therapy works with the thinking mind, Brainspotting goes deeper, working where the imprint of the experience is actually held - in the body, in the automatic responses, in the places that logic and language don't always reach.
I work integratively, also drawing on parts-informed therapy and somatic approaches.
🌿 "I have tried CBT, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Compassionate Mind Training and have a whole library of books on the subject — but nothing has really worked long term until I discovered Brainspotting."
— Client experience
Sessions and Intensives
I offer 90-minute sessions - longer than the standard therapy hour, because this depth of work needs genuine space.
I also offer therapy intensives: immersive, concentrated work - 3-hour sessions over two or three days - each including a follow-up integration session.
What might take months in weekly sessions, an intensive can often access more quickly.
We always begin with a free clarity call - a quiet conversation about where you are and whether this feels like the right fit.
🌿 "I am finally living my life in colour again after 30 years in black and white."
— Client experience

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Sharon Nicholson - Â鶹Դ´ Accredited Counsellor, Brainspotting Practitioner, and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Specialistâ„¢ with over 20 years of clinical experience.
I work online with clients across the UK, including London and the Home Counties.
I work with women who are successful, capable, and holding it all together - but privately feel stuck, anxious, lacking in confidence, or held back in ways they can't quite explain.
Women who procrastinate despite being capable. Who feel like they should be further along by now - in their career, their relationships, their sense of themselves.
Often, when we begin to look beneath the surface, there is a relational origin. A parent whose love felt conditional. A relationship that slowly eroded something essential - through betrayal, narcissistic abuse, or a dynamic that quietly dimmed something in you. A pattern so longstanding it has started to feel like personality rather than history.
You don't need to have that clarity yet. You just need to recognise yourself here.
🌿 "After having a number of unsuccessful attempts to find the right therapist for me...Sharon has been more than I had even allowed myself to hope for. She totally exceeded my hopes or any expectation I may have had."

It is precise, deeply effective, and often experienced as more quietly powerful than people expect.
I work integratively, weaving Brainspotting with parts-informed therapy and somatic approaches - addressing not just what happened, but where it is still being held in the body.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Sharon Nicholson - Â鶹Դ´ Accredited Counsellor, Brainspotting Practitioner, and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Specialistâ„¢, with over 20 years of clinical experience.
I work online with adults across the UK, including Altrincham and the surrounding Greater Manchester area.
My clients are typically women who are competent, capable, and used to holding things together - yet privately worn down by something they struggle to put into words.
From the outside, life looks like it's working. Inside, something feels stuck, anxious, or simply not enough.
Often there's a current trigger - a relationship ending, a betrayal that keeps looping, a long-standing difficulty with a parent, anxiety that persists even when nothing is visibly wrong.
Underneath that surface issue, there's frequently an older relational pattern that hasn't yet been named or understood.
You don't need to have the language for it. You just need to recognise the feeling.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Sharon
I’m a trauma therapist specialising in anxiety and relational trauma, including betrayal and narcissistic abuse.
I work online with adults across the UK.
Many of the women I work with still feel the effects of a relationship or experience that changed them somehow. They second-guess themselves, feel on edge, or struggle to feel enough.
Despite this, they know there is more.
Practice description
Talking therapy works mainly with the logical, thinking part of the brain, but trauma, and deeply impacting experiences, are not held there. It is for this reason that Brainspotting is at the heart of my work, and is my primary modality.
Evolved from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Brainspotting is a neuroexperiential approach that helps process what the body may still be holding - sometimes long after an experience has ended.
You can choose from:
90-minute sessions - Allowing space for deeper processing and opportunity for more progress than a standard therapy hour.
Therapy Intensives (3-hour sessions over 2 or 3 days, plus follow-up session) - Uninterrupted space for profound, extended processing, offering the opportunity for breakthroughs that might otherwise take weeks or months.
🌿 "To anyone thinking about starting this Brainspotting journey with Sharon, all I can say is just do it! The benefits are huge and it's time those of us who are affected by the past break free from it all and move forward with peace and happiness. Brainspotting is truly remarkable, and Sharon is an excellent guide. I can highly recommend it!"

I'm Sharon Nicholson - Â鶹Դ´ Accredited Counsellor, Brainspotting Practitioner, and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Specialistâ„¢ with over 20 years of clinical experience. I work online with clients across the UK, including Surrey, London, and the South East.
I work with women who appear to have everything in order - the career, the relationships, the capability - but privately feel lost, stuck, or like they've never quite felt enough. Women who have achieved a great deal and still feel somehow behind. Who are highly capable in their professional lives and yet struggle with confidence, boundaries, or a persistent sense of not being quite right.
Often there is a relational thread running beneath it all. A childhood in which approval was hard-won or never fully given. A relationship that changed them - through betrayal, infidelity, or a dynamic that slowly eroded their sense of self. A pattern they keep returning to despite knowing better.
The work here goes deeper than talking. And it reaches further than insight alone.
