About me and my therapy practice
I am an attachment based psychoanalytic psychotherapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist and arts therapist.
At the heart of the therapy I offer is a safe, confidential, and trusting relationship—a space where you can feel fully seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. From this secure foundation, we can gently explore the issues that may be troubling you and begin to find meaningful ways forward.
Many individuals—adults, children, and families—may never have experienced such an emotionally attuned relationship. Experiencing it in therapy can be profoundly transformative, offering new perspectives on who you are and what you need. Feeling truly understood in all your emotional complexity can unlock self-awareness, resilience, and healing
Practice description
As a qualified Arts Therapist as well as an Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, I also offer the opportunity to work with non-verbal and symbolic forms of expression. Sometimes our deepest emotions and life experiences are difficult to articulate in words. Using creative media can give shape and voice to what feels unspeakable or unclear.
You do not need to see yourself as artistic or have any prior experience. Creative exploration may involve:
Working with postcard images
Listening to meaningful music or songs
Placing symbols in a sand tray
Exploring dreams or metaphors
These approaches can help you understand feelings or situations in new ways, offering insights that verbal reflection alone may not reach.
For children I have a range of creative resources/art materials for them to explore and to find ways of showing me what is going on for them. Adolescents can also use creative resources if it feels hard to express in words how they are feeling.
My first session
I usually offer a series of 3 sessions where we can see if I am a good fit for what you are looking for. During this time I ask about what's bringing you to therapy now as well as asking about your past and your childhood. This is because working with attachment history is the core of how we will work together.
With children and adolescents I suggest 3-4 individual assessment sessions, following a longer assessment meeting usually with parents/carers alone (this can be done via Zoom if necessary).
