About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in helping people who feel stuck, especially those who’ve already had therapy, done the thinking, and understand their patterns, but still find themselves caught in the same cycles.
I practise ISTDP, a focused, evidence-based approach that goes beyond managing symptoms. We work to get to the heart of what’s holding you back, and create the conditions for deep and lasting psychological change.
Unlike traditional talking therapy, ISTDP focuses on what’s happening in the moment. We pay close attention to emotional responses, anxiety, and the subtle strategies people use (often outside of awareness) to avoid painful or conflicted feelings. These avoidances are often the very things that keep people stuck.
In our work, I’ll help you face what’s been difficult to process, work through what’s been buried, and come through the other side with more clarity, connection, and freedom in how you experience yourself and your relationships.
Practice description
I work with people who want to go beyond surface-level understanding and create real change. Together, we focus on the deeper emotional patterns that shape your experience, often the ones that keep recurring despite your insight or past therapy.
That might mean working through longstanding anxiety, relationship difficulties, or old defences that once helped but now hold you back.
I offer sessions online (across the UK and Europe) and in person in Nottingham. I also provide supervision for therapists who want to deepen their emotional focus or refine their work using ISTDP.
My first session
Many people I work with arrive having already done a lot of thinking. They may have tried CBT, counselling, or read all the right books, but something still feels stuck.
In our first session, we don’t just talk through the issues. We slow things down and start to notice what’s happening in the moment, especially just beneath the surface. That could be anxiety, defences, or subtle emotional reactions that block real change.
ISTDP is an active, emotionally-focused therapy. We begin exploring not just what’s wrong, but why it keeps happening and what’s been avoided or left unresolved that’s ready to be worked through.
This initial session is the first step in a focused process that aims not just for more understanding, but for meaningful, lasting change. I offer sessions online or in person in Nottingham.

About me and my therapy practice
I’m a psychotherapist and supervisor with a background in CBT and psychodynamic therapy, now specialising in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). I work with clients both online and in-person, and support other therapists who want to work more dynamically and effectively with emotional blocks.
I know what it’s like to feel unsure about how to approach certain client difficulties, or to sense that something deeper is going on but not quite know how to reach it. In my own journey, discovering ISTDP was a turning point. It gave me the tools to help clients access real change, and it continues to shape how I work and supervise today.
My aim is to support you to develop confidence, clarity, and creativity in your clinical work, whether you’re new to this way of working or already immersed in it.
Practice description
I offer clinical supervision with a focus on depth-oriented, emotion-focused work, particularly ISTDP, though I also support therapists from a range of backgrounds. My approach is collaborative, practical, and attuned to the emotional demands of therapeutic work. Whether you’re looking to deepen your technique, think through complex cases, or reflect on the emotional impact of your work, supervision provides a structured space to support your growth. I’m particularly interested in helping therapists develop their skill in working with defences, anxiety, and emotional breakthroughs and in finding their own authentic voice as a clinician.
My first session
In our first supervision session, I aim to get a clear sense of your current practice, clinical questions, and professional needs. This session is charged at the standard rate, and there’s no expectation to commit long-term, it’s an opportunity for us both to get a feel for whether the fit is right. We’ll explore what brings you to supervision, what you’re looking for support with, and how I might be able to help. If you’re new to ISTDP, I can also offer an initial case consultation to help assess where we might begin, depending on your experience and goals.
