About me and my therapy practice
Hi there,
Taking the first step into counselling can be daunting for anyone so finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is really important.
I am an experienced therapist offering counselling sessions to adults and young people aged 11 years and upwards. I offer a warm, friendly, safe and confidential space to address any concerns at a pace that suits you.
I have over 12 years experience working in various settings including private practice, high schools, further education, higher education and the NHS.
I have a vast amount of experience in supporting people with Autism and ADHD.
I am a Person Centred practitioner which means my work is client led. Exploring thoughts, behaviours and feelings whilst supporting you to navigate sensitive issues freely, increasing self acceptance and self esteem.
I have a Bachelors Degree with honours in Counselling and a PgCert in Supervision in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am also a trained Mental Health First Aider.
Practice description
I believe therapy should be a collaborative process. Working together to overcome difficulties and build resilience.
My role is not to fix or judge, but understand you and what you are experiencing from your perspective.
My aim is to support you to undergo a process of healing that feels right for you.
I offer face to face counselling in a private, quiet room in North Tyneside . It is a safe, confidential space where clients of all ages can feel heard, respected and supported.
I also offer on-line sessions and telephone counselling.
Sessions can be held weekly, fortnightly or monthly and can be long term or short term depending on what feels most helpful for you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation either over the phone or face to face. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, get a sense of how I work and decide whether it feels like a good fit.
When working with children or young people, an initial session for parents/carers can be helpful. This allows a chance to explore the young persons needs and discus any relevant background. Following sessions will be for the young person only. Review sessions with parents/carers will be considered if appropriate.
For adults, the first session is an opportunity to begin exploring the reasons for counselling and discuss your goals and how we might work towards them.

Practice description
My supervision style is warm, supportive, and grounded. I aim to create a calm and containing space where supervisees feel able to think openly about their work without fear of judgement. I listen closely and attentively, valuing both what is said and what may be harder to put into words. Where appropriate, I use gentle humour to ease anxiety and support reflection, while always holding the seriousness of the clinical work in mind.
The support I provide allows a creative space to share experiences, thoughts and feelings from a lived perspective and theoretical perspective.
In terms of experience, I have gained over twelve years working as a counsellor in the NHS and education field, including secondary, further and higher education. I have also accumulated many clinical hours in private practice using an integrative approach in my practice.
My first session
Through personal experience I know choosing a clinical supervisor can be a daunting process. It's not just a "ticky box" exercise, it's finding that person who you can feel comfortable enough with to reveal your uncertainties and vulnerabilities. It's a creation of space where you can bring complex cases, grow confidence and expand professional development. A good match will support your growth, help you feel supported and safe.
I offer a collaborative, reflective supervision space where practitioners and trainee's can think deeply about their work, ethical dilemmas, and professional development at their own pace.
I offer a free 30-minute introductory supervision session to give you the opportunity to experience how I work and to see whether my supervision style feels like the right fit for you. Choosing a supervisor is an important decision, and this session allows us to explore that together, with no obligation to continue.
