About me and my therapy practice
My first approach to clinical supervision is to establish a safe, honest and supportive supervisory relationship.
I believe a good and trusting supervisory relationship depends on the clarity of supervisory contract as well as the terms and conditions of the contract.
I believe my role as a clinical supervisor is to be supportive, to provide a restorative space and offer the the supervisees the normative function of the clinical supervision.
My normative function as a clinical supervisor is to ensure that the supervisee's practice is ethical, safe and the supervisee is meeting the required professional standards of their training college as well as the Â鶹Դ´.
My restorative role is to focus on my supervisee's emotional and psychological well being. I try to make sure that the supervision meets the supervisees emotional, educational needs and can provide a safe space for the supervisee to learn professional skills. I try to make sure that in the safe supervisory space they can process the emotional demands of their profession.
Similar to my restorative role, my supportive role is to offer the supervisees encouragement, nurturing and guidance in a congruent, safe and non judgemental environment.
I am mindful of the power dynamic in clinical supervision. In particular the trainee and student counsellors need much more confidence building than the qualified and experienced therapists.
I believe being congruent, empathetic and non judgemental
Will facilitate the supervisees to bring their work to the clinical supervision without feeling of being judged.
