About me and my therapy practice

Together, we create the space to help you better understand yourself and your needs, and how to meet them

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and accredited member of Â鶹ԭ´´. With over a decade of clinical experience, I am skilled at providing safe, collaborative counselling, which focusses on the issues you want to address, in order to help you feel that life works better for you

I have been working as a counsellor since 2014, qualifying in 2015 with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I gained my British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) accreditation, signifying significant post-qualification client experience, in 2018 and a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice in 2022.

As a counsellor I have worked with many clients from a wide range of backgrounds with a equally wide range of problems and concerns. Over the years, I have developed a way of working which is genuinely non-judgemental and inclusive, offering a professional yet warm approach.

I have worked with clients over both short term and long-term contracts, from six weeks to several months and even years. I use evidence-based skills and approaches to actively support clients to make positive changes in their lives. Together, we create the space to help you better understand yourself and your needs, and how to meet them. You can read more about how I work on my website.

As an accredited member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ I work in line with their Ethical Framework respecting your autonomy as a client and maintaining safe and professional standards.

Working purposefully, relationally and ethically is at the heart of my practice and I invite you to get in touch for an initial session to see if my approach is one that might help you, where you are right now.

Practice description

Sometimes there is a lot going on in our heads and lives, maybe more than we feel we can cope with alone. Talking to someone who is trained to listen carefully and work alongside you to try and make sense of things can often help.

I won’t be telling you what to do but instead opening up a conversation that works towards positive change. Whether you have had counselling before or you are coming to therapy for the first time, it is my job to meet you where you are now.

I am able to help you explore what is going on at the moment or look back at what has happened in the past that you might still be carrying with you. This might be difficulties relating to your personal life, your family or friends, work, your sense of self now or in the past or a combination of any of these. Whether you are feeling low or anxious, scared, angry or confused – taking the brave step to come to counselling may well be what begins to help you feel that life is more manageable.

I offer Integrative counselling, which is the modality I was trained in. I use evidence-based skills and theory rooted in a combination of Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches. The degree to which we will use any one of these approaches will depend on you so I will work with you to create a counselling space which feels uniquely moulded to meet you and your needs right now.

I will help us create a safe and collaborative space in which you are able to talk freely about what is distressing, preoccupying or concerning you. The expectation is that counselling should help, that looking together at what is going on will help you understand your situation, either now or in the past, better. For instance, we might explore your patterns of relationships in the past and then apply the insight we gain to your current relationship problems.

Talking issues through together can help you reframe how you see things. This can then lead to you making changes and moving forward in life more positively.

My first session

Once you have made contact with me, we can arrange a short (15 minutes, free) telephone conversation to see if I am the right sort of counsellor for you and your current concerns and if my availability works for you. You can also ask any questions you might have at this stage.

After that we will arrange a first session (£65) and discuss in more detail what you would like counselling to focus on and explore how we might work together. This will include a short assessment that we will talk through in the session, to help me understand your current situation. I will be able to give you more information about how I work and answer any questions you might have and you will not be under any obligation to continue with sessions if you don’t want to.

If you do want to go ahead, you can decide to work in a open-ended way, with regular reviews, or you can choose to work over a shorter period of time if you prefer. Counselling sessions take place weekly, at the same time each week, for 50 minutes.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced counselling supervisor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision (CPPD, 2022). I also recently completed a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice (Bath Spa, 2025, Distinction).

Whether you are a trainee at the start of your counselling journey or an experienced practitioner with many years of experience, I can offer a safe, supportive and focussed reflective space in which to supervise your client work.

Supervision is key to effective and ethical therapy and I understand the importance of this professional relationship to your work.

Bringing my professional experience to support you

I have experience of supervising counsellors in NHS, low-cost and private practice settings, both individually and in groups.

As an accredited member of Â鶹ԭ´´ with experience in writing policies and gaining organisational Â鶹ԭ´´ accreditation, I approach supervision with a strong ethical framework.

My recently gained MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice also means my understanding of ethical and research themes in the counselling profession is current.

Supporting counsellors at all stages of their professional life

As a former placement manager for trainee counsellors and counselling team lead, I am experienced in supporting trainee counsellors to develop their levels of understanding and competence. I also have experience of supporting counsellors working towards accreditation and working to expand their practice beyond qualification.

My experience managing paid counsellors as well as volunteers means that I am well-placed to support you professionally. I am used to writing appraisals and reports of counsellors’ work at all levels.

Practice description

How does individual supervision with me work?

I offer regular supervision in blocks of one hour either once or twice a month. All my supervision is currently online. If we are only meeting once per month, I will need to know that you have additional supervision provision in place as well as seeing me.

We will contract how we are going to work together at the beginning and then review our work regularly to ensure we maintain a good working relationship. I am able to provide proof of attendance if your agency or training organisation requires it. Separate charges may apply to more time-consuming reports that you might need from me but this is usually equivalent to a single session fee.

My first session

I offer an initial supervision session to establish whether we will be able to work well together. This is offered at a discounted session fee of £55.
