About me and my therapy practice
Are you looking for a safe and confidential space where you can bring what is troubling you, feel heard and supported through challenging or confusing times or events?
I work with clients who are struggling with heightened emotions and who may be trying to make sense of themselves and the world they experience. You may be dealing with change, loss of a loved one, or perhaps trying to navigate a medical diagnosis.
Together we will focus on what has been troubling you, building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings, or perhaps understand patterns that are more deep seated.
As an integrative therapist, I will tailor my approach to your needs as we work together to achieve what you would like to accomplish. By working collaboratively, we can tailor the work to meet your needs.
After a long career in nursing, I moved to the charity sector where I have supported and walked alongside people who have experienced a stroke, women at a Women's Centre, those experiencing mental health difficulties at a Mental Health charity and most recently ran a service where I worked with both the dying and the bereaved at a local Hospice. I am an experienced therapist, working in private practice for 8 years.
Practice description
I work online and in person (in St Albans).
I offer a free 20-30 minute phone call so you may ask questions. If you feel able, then you may also wish to give a brief overview of what is troubling you.
I can offer short-term work where we can develop possible solutions to more recent issues. However, when feelings and difficulties are more embedded, long-term work can help us identify patterns and make sense of things in greater depth.
My first session
During our first session, we will explore the boundaries of confidentiality as this helps to build a trusting and safe space. We can discuss your needs in more depth and explore what has brought you to therapy. You can then decide how you would like to move forward.
I work online and face to face in St Albans, providing 50 minute sessions, usually weekly but I find for some clients, they work best with greater gaps between sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling to make sense of things? Maybe your confidence is wavering, and it is difficult to see what you want in life.
You may be experiencing changes in your life- leaving home, going to university, children leaving home, relationship changes, serious illness or loss. It can be unsettling finding your way through.
Sometimes these changes can make us feel lacking in confidence, unsure or without a purpose.
We can work together to help you to make sense of things, to help you to understand the situation that you find yourself in. Perhaps to reach a comfort with the change, to adapt to it or to help you discover what you want in life.
If you would like to have a conversation with me to think together about your needs and to see if you would like to work with me, please email me debbieclarecounselling@gmail.com and we can book a phone call.
Practice description
I work online (and face to face in St Albans), providing 50 minute sessions, usually weekly but I find for some clients, greater gaps between sessions may work best.I have worked in private practice for 8 years, having previously developed a good foundation of experience working in a range of settings, including women’s, stroke, older persons, and mental health charities prior to working with families in a hospice setting.
My background in nursing gave me the opportunity to work with people and families from a diversity of backgrounds, helping them to work through the complexities of their health challenges, adapt to a new way of living, and potentially a different reality.
Yoga is an important part of my life and has helped me through turbulent times. I am a qualified yoga teacher and find that aspects of breathwork and relaxation may sometimes assist in our work together.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute phone conversation enabling you a space to ask questions and perhaps give me a flavour of what is troubling you.
During our first session, we will explore the boundaries of confidentiality as this helps to build a trusting and safe space. We can discuss your needs in more depth and explore what has brought you to therapy. You can then decide how you would like to move forward.
I work online and offer sessions, weekly, fortnightly, every 3 weeks or monthly dependent on your needs and what works best for you.
I also have a face to face practice in St Albans.
I look forward to hearing from you
