About me and my therapy practice
My approach is Humanistic Person Centred which means I work with the here and now unconditionally I use CBT when appropriate to set individuals home work to encourage reflecting upon their own feelings and behaviour. I use and apply different techniques and theoretical approaches to tailor it to the need of each individual. Such as the level of their consciousness ability, or defence mechanisms to develop a better understanding of themselves.
I offer trauma informed and anti-oppressive that is culturally sensitive to individuals. I work in English and Farsi to variety of different cultural backgrounds.
I have in-depth experience of working with marginalised groups from a wide range of Black, Asian, Middle Eastern, European, and other ethnic backgrounds, including victims of torture and trafficking.
Beside the talking therapy I use metaphors such as Mapping Art images, journaling and writing about their thoughts in letters to make clients read and explore their feelings in the session to reach closure.
I work with complex cases such as negative childhood experiences, depression, anxiety, eating disorder, different experiences of post-traumatic stress, intercultural issues, loss and grief, bereavement, racialised trauma, interpersonal relationship, self-esteem, work and study related issues, stress, parenting issues, mid-life crisis, identity crisis, domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, violence, rape, social isolation and exclusion.
I work with Students to access emotional and practical support through individual video session or face to face, groups, and workshops. The aim is to minimise the impact of any problem on their academic progress. I understand the counselling and psychological services with students are wholistic, multi-disciplinary and comprehensive.
